The Internet has made the list of nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize this year. This is only hearsay as the Nobel prize nominations in any category is usually kept under wraps. It is also said to have nominated a Chinese National and Russian Activist for the award whose past honoree's have included, President Barak Obama, Anwar el Sadat and Mother Theresa.
The Internet is the first 'inanimate' or non human nomination in the awards history.
In his will of 1895, prize founder Alfred Nobel commented that "peace prize should reward efforts to promote fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies."
In 2010, maybe one could replace "fraternity" above with "communication." As for an abolition of armies, in the foreseeable future, that is next to impossible.
