Kohjinsha "DZ series" dual screen laptops go on sale in Japan on Dec. 11th for ¥79,800.(roughly +/- $900 USD)
As reported by the Japan Headline Examiner, Japanese manufacturer Kohjinsha will be rolling out a dual screen laptop around December 11th, just in time for last minute gift buyers. He adds one caveat;
While not the world’s first “dual screen laptop”, it does appear to be the first 10.1 inch. It also beats out its larger predecessor, the Lenovo Thinkpad W700ds series, in price (and symmetry.)
Its features (as best translateted with Google) appear to be;
- two thin 10.1 inch widescreen LCD screens with 1024x600 (WSVGA) display. The two screens slide out left and right, creating an extra long centered display
- Other features, according to Kohjinsha, include: an AMD Athlon™ Neo MV-40 ( 1.6GHz ) processor,
- 1GB of memory (with a max of 4GB),
- a 160GB 2.5 inch SATA hard drive, an ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 internal graphics accelerator,
- a wireless LAN + Bluetooth,
- a 1.3 megapixel webcam, and
- Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.
- The laptop is approximately 1.84kg (~4lbs) and has a battery life of about 4.5 hours.
For more info: Some websites already are offering it for export, although at a bit of a marked up price.
