Monday's America's Cup starts a year of fun in Valencia, we're talkintravel.

In case you haven't heard, the long awaited America's Cup sailboat race between the defending champion Alinghi of Switzerland and the sole challenger  BMW/Oracle Racing of the USA starts this Monday, February 8th in Valencia, Spain.  A new website with up to the minute announcements has been created at www.33rd.americascup.com.  It's already been the most controversial cup in the 153 year history of the race with court battles, new high tech gear, controversial sails...the list goes on.  It's a best of three race series and whoever is the winner, the result will probably contested in the New York Supreme Court.  But the real winner is the city of Valencia and the thousands of people who will attend the races in the America's Cup Village and the billions that will watch the races on TV and the internet around the world. In the United States, you can go to www.espn350.com for live coverage with commentator Gary Jobson and Ranbdy Smyth starting at 3:45 AM eastern time on Monday.

Valencia has become a European destination city in the last six years.  It's one of the fastest growing cities in Europe, has a complex called the City of Arts and Sciences that will blow your senses, the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe in August, on March 12th, the annual Fallas de San Jose festival, and dozens of other events during the year that will keep you coming back.  So awaken your senses to the wind, the sea, the culture, the sports, the people, and the food of Valencia in 2010...we're talkintravel.  Watch my brief YouTube slide show from Valencia at this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VrvfXQFXT0
