I saw this Mumbai-based film about a week after it showed up in theaters in the Detroit metro area. I must say I saw it on a whim. I had even seen the preview a few weeks before, but didn’t feel especially compelled to be confined to a theater seat for any length of time in order to see it. But went we did. And not once during the 2 hours did I ask myself why I spent $11 to see it. This Best Picture Oscar winner deserves its new title.
CNN.com reports, "At Sunday's 81st annual Academy Awards, "Slumdog" won eight Oscars, including best picture, director and adapted screenplay, completing a joyful ride that had carried it to wins at the Golden Globes, Writers Guild, Directors Guild and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards."
Slumdog has all the makings of a good movie. Hard to believe it almost went straight to DVD in the States. We got lucky on that one. It runs you through the gauntlet of emotions. Intrigue, excitement, sadness, hope, laughter, and suspense. It has a grittier roughness for the men and a charming, love story for the women. And if you didn’t love it enough already, the credits promise some good, old-fashioned Bollywood dancing.

Say, your title is incorrect. It's a US-made film based in India, not an Indian-made film.
