Massage therapist gets to the muscles

There are no rose petals on the massage table or scented candles posted around the room for atmosphere, not even lavender scented cream for an aromatherapy rubdown, and you won't be flying off to an exotic spa to get here, but massage therapist Courtney Scharneck, right in Copley Square in Boston's Back Bay, will deliver she she promises:  a therapeutic massage that relieves stress or pain, helps your muscles in their athletic endeavors, or soothes more serious injuries or medical problems such as tendonitis, sprains, herniated discs, carpal tunnel syndrome or migraine headaches.

This is serious deep tissue massage, clinical massage, neuromuscular therapy and orthopedic massage, and Scharneck is certified to know exactly what to do whether you have pain or not.  That's why the entire track team of Northeastern University comes to her to knead their runners' muscles, and why members of the Boston Ballet come to her, and why she sometimes travels to meet the contortionists, gymnasts, acrobats and aerialists in the traveling Cirque du Soleil shows.  Around the time of the Boston Marathon, she has a cache of elite runners who use her services.  She spent months in Thailand learning two different types of Thai massage as well.

There's nothing wrong with "fluff and buff" massage, and Scharneck can give you a sweet relaxation treatment if nothing hurts and you just want her magic fingers to make you breathe more deeply and find peace with your body.  Clinical massage such as this helps you feel pampered, but cared for as well.

Her studio is at 581 Boylston Street right across from Copley Square, her website is www.courtneyscharneckmassage.com, and her prices are $85 for one hour or $120 for 90 minutes.  From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. by appointment.  Telephone 617-869-2781.

So glad to see Courtney getting some press for her amazing work! If you're an athlete of any kind or have orthopedic issues, do yourself a favor and book an appointment immediately. This review is so right about how she knows exactly what to do, and it's pretty incredible if you're sore or injured when you get off the table and already feel an improvement.

I moved out of Boston a few months ago, and I can't tell you how much I miss these sessions!
