The Black Eyed Peas performed. Marisa Miller graced the catwalk in a $3 million bra studded with diamonds. Heidi Klum, practically fresh from the delivery room after baby number four, played emcee.
Oh, and one more little detail...amazingly gorgeous women pranced around in sexy lingerie amidst lights, sparkle, and an over-the-top display of costumery. In short, the Victoria's Secret holiday fashion show was everything it usually is: utterly indulgent fantasy. We'd expect nothing less.
The show, which will be broadcast December 1, 2009, at 10pm ET/9pm CT on CBS, included the usual glamazon VS faves: Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, and Doutzen Kroes. Bras, corsets, and panties took on new life when coupled with flowing balloon trains, feathers, jeweled bib necklaces, elaborate chain-mail like belts, and flowing, shiny tresses. Even Fergie looked fantastic in a revealing emerald green, corset-topped gown.
While the show is more about creativity than wearability, I think we'd all agree that the U.S. economy and psyche could use a serious infusion of positivity. A little something to wake us from the stupor of the last financial year, just in time for the holidays. And that, after all, is what Victoria's Secret does best: incite excitement.
