If you search on Billboard.com for Adam Lambert's new album, For Your Entertainment you will get a message saying it has not charted yet.
Yet his fellow American Idol alums, David Archuleta, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Kris Allen are all eclipsing Adam in album and singles sales this holiday season.
Or so it appears. An article on Billboard stated Adam's album debuted at #3 it's first week, but doesn't say where it stands now.
Confused much?
Some commenters on Billboard.com are screaming censorship because they are not able to see FYE's rankings.
One commenter said, "Please update the information for this album. What are the sales? Why the confusion? Are you confusing the single and the album by the same title? This is the best overall album in years! Adam is a unique performer and we want to hear and see lots more from him in the future.
Another commenter was more straightforward, saying, " STOP CENSORING ADAM LAMBERT, you fascists!!! I WANT TO SEE HIS CHART RESULTS!".
This comes on the heels of news that Disney-owned ABC's head of television Anne Sweeney said the network is "reviewing the steps it takes in preparing for live broadcasts of performers" following Adam's notorious November 22nd performance on the network's American Music Awards, which has garnered both praise and criticism. Sweeney told Reuters, "We certainly don't want to suppress artistry at any level, but we also have to be very cognizant of who our audience is."
As of today, Adam's debut album, For Your Entertainment, has fallen to the #27 spot on Amazon's top 100 downloads. The single For Your Entertainment has fallen out of the top 100 downloads altogether. On iTunes, For Your Entertainment (both the album and the single) have taken a similar nosedive.
How much does anti-Adam sentiment play into this? Well, apparently, a lot. A Facebook group called "1,000,000 to File an FCC Obscenity Complaint Against Adam Lambert" has gained a following of about 500 this past week (however, many of them are LGBT people who joined in solidarity to speak out supporting Adam, and to report the group for spreading hate speech). Some members have "Yes on Prop 8 " logos as their profile picture.
The group says, "We are organizing over 1 million people to file an online complaint with the FCC against Adam Lambert using the following statement - Adam Lambert committed several obscene homosexual acts when he French kissed another man, simulated receiving oral sex from another man, groped another mans genitals, and committed other obscene sexual acts during his live televised performance on the American Music Awards Show which was aired live on national television November 22nd, 2009 on ABC."
Adam told Ellen DeGeneres on her show, "I suppose part of what I got caught up in, that I forgot, was that this was the first time people were seeing me on TV again after Idol. I didn't really think about that as objectively as I might of wanted to." He added, "It was maybe a little too far."
Adam told Ellen that his father told him to consider making an apology, to which Adam responded, "I don't feel like I did anything wrong, it just wasn't maybe the right judgment call. It's a taste thing more than an obscenity thing. I think it's just a taste level."
Whatever controversy Adam has stirred up, it seems to be working to help him build a cult of personality. He admitted to CNN International today the he grew up an "ugly duckling fat kid', once weighing 250 pounds, and said his flashy behavior of late is his way of overcoming self-image problems.
And this should give him a boost (or maybe not): According to Access Hollywood, Barbara Walters has named Adam one of the "10 Most Fascinating People of 2009," which seems to be a dubious distinction, since Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Jenny Sanford, wife of disgraced South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, also made the cut. Jenny Sanford has told reporters that gay marriage wrecked her family. Barbara's show airs December 9 on NBC (check local listings).

Yes!!!! I tried to buy three of Adam's CD from Amazon to give as holiday gifts and the order was reduced to two. When I complained to Amazon for the restriction, Amazon sent me an email saying it was the "manufacturer" guidelines. Why is RCA/Sony giving those guidelines to Amazon?
Kelvin, Billboard is reporting that Adam sold 225,000 copies of his cd. What you are spreading is wrong information.

Adam Lambert has sold over 225,000 cd's. I tried to buy one from Best Buy and they were sold out. I live in Arizona and I'm surprised that I couldn't find one there or at Target or at Walmart. I had to go on line to Amazon.com to get one ordered. The fact that folks are saying the kid is sliding in sales surprises me. There sure were a whole heck of a lot of other new releases on the shelf of the other artist. This whole AMA thing is now out of hand. Why are so many people trying to pull this kid down? He is real talent not some hokey artist who can't sing. He can really produce and he is causing a cultural revolution with his music.
Truth and Kelvin's Wrong - I just re-checked the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 and Adam's single and album are not charting. However, his unauthorized album, Take One, is at #75 on the Billboard 200. If you do a search on Billboard for "For Your Entertainment", you get a message stating, "This album has never charted."
I am no expert but I believe the real sales results of albums, Soundscan, don't leak until some time on Wednesday. And I could be wrong but I think Billboard doesn't updates its charts until Thursday. I believe the sales week for albums runs from Tues through Monday (why most albums are released on Tuesdays). Any sales figures you have seen so far are estimates for this week, not Soundscan. You can expect Adam's real sales figures to leak tomorrow (Wednesday) and his album to chart two days from now on Thursday. So I don't understand why people are insisting he is being censored. If his album really released on a Monday then I don't know what happens with the one day of sales. In any case, he sure lucked into that Black Friday deal on Amazon - $3.99 sale on his MP3 album minus the $3 Amazon gave everyone that day toward MP3s and his album could be had for 99 cents.

Wednesday is the day Billboard updates the charts. Adam's album is not charting yet because it was released last Monday and did not count for last Wednesday's charts. He is set for a debut at # 3 tomorrow as far as I know. Cheers.

Adam showed either an incredible lack of judgement, he was totally arrogant or amazingly stupid. Maybe all three. He was vulgar and inappropriate. Talented? Yes. All that the hype implies? Not even close. He needs to get over himself before the buying public does.
This article is a big, fat lie. In fact, go to Billboard.com right now and there is a story that says Adam Lambert's debut CD over-performed all expectations and is expected to land at #2 on the Hot 200 chart when it is released tomorrow. He is estimated to have sold 245,000 copies in its first week, one of the best selling albums of the year. And it wasn't #66 last week as this story suggests, since it wasn't even released when the last chart was unveiled. This is some poor reporting at examiner.com.

Interesting - I saw this on the Billboard site in an article about Carrie Underwood and the Billboard 200 "Nielsen SoundScan's sales tracking week, as reflected in Billboard's sales charts, runs from Monday through Sunday of each week." If that is the case and Adam's album came out on a Monday, then it should not have been on last week's Billboard 200 at all. It will appear on this week's as it should.
In the ABC series, Brothers and Sisters, that airs at 10 on Sunday night, a gay male couple kiss often. If these holier than thou complainers aren't complaining about these characters kissing, they should not be complaining about Adam kissing a man.
As VIOLET4EVER said, the album was released on Monday, so wouldn't and shouldn't have appeared on last week's Billboard charts. It would count towards this week's chart that is released today. It's predicted to enter at #2 or #3.
Adam has a good voice and is a great performer. However, if he continues to behave in such a vulgar, tactless manner, he will have a really narrow range of fans. Most people will be very turned off to him because of his behavior who might have loved him and bought his CDs--not coz they're anti-gay but because they have more class than that.
Billboard is one of the worse websites online - difficult to read because of the size. Where did some of these people come from and who on earth is really buying their music? The music industry has hit an all time low because there are just too many people singing that just cant sing - or at least that is what they say they are doing. Blah!

If people watch any of Adam's interviews they can see he is nothing like how he perfomeed on the AMA's. He is a very sweet kind person. He was all of the idol contestants favorite person. He just likes to act out the lyrics of his songs. He used to perform in the underground LA clubs and thats how they performed. I think he is realizing that is not for everyone. Noha you are an idiot parents should be more responsable and know what their children are watching befor they watch it. My children are in their 20's and I would not let them watch the award shows when they were younger because of what they might see. Jennifer Lopez wore a see thru green top one year half of the other stars boobs are hanging out everywhere. Madonna's now famous kiss and a male preformer coming out from under her dress. There were only a few other acts on this years AMA that were in my opion OK for children. They kept advertising that Adams performance was something everyone would be talking about.
Parents should step up and be responsable for what their kids see. My tv would have been tuned to another channal when Janet Jackson did the first croch grab, because I did not want my children exposed to the sexuality or violence.
