Artist Christopher J. Hearn works mainly with acrylics but has experience in several media including oil, watercolor, charcoal, and pastels to name a few. A self-taught graphic designer of ten years, he worked for a few local sign companies before opening his own business, ADDart in Peoria.

Regarding his graphics design business, he states that all of his artwork is custom. Hearn meets with each individual client to get ideas about their likes and dislikes, style, locational placement, and size before presenting the client with an estimate and visual aid or scaled miniature of the work to be completed.
His artwork
Describing his artwork, Hearn says, “My artwork varies. Some pieces are visions that I have and they are just representations exactly, and other times my pieces are created without any purpose or intent. I just merely let my hand create the non-objective format painting. Although there is an underlying theme throughout all my paintings, and that is the study of color and the reactions to those colors when placed in certain locations. Color is the most powerful visual force today. It evokes emotional states for everyone.”
How it all started
Hearn credits his parents as “the influential driving force for my lust for anything creative.” At an early age, they noticed that he had talent in creative arts and provided him opportunities for enrichment. Hearn took his first college art courses in drawing and painting when he was five and won an honorable mention at a high school art exhibit in 4th grade. He continued his art education with several high school and college courses, including local community colleges and two years at The Art Institute of Chicago, in Chicago, Illinois. Hearn’s father, suffering from cancer, took the time to fly to Chicago to visit the Art Institute with his son so he could take the final entrance exam. It was his father’s vision before he died in 2000, to see his son go to college. Hearn’s mother, after two major strokes, passed away in 2008.
Hearn, born in Houston, Texas, now lives in Vistancia in Peoria with his brother and three nieces that he helps take care of. He currently has a 4’ x 8’ painting hanging in the adult section at the new Peoria Public Library on Lake Pleasant Rd. View Hearn’s artwork or contact him through his website: www.addgraphix.com.
