There are many artists, crafters, and DIYers here in the West Valley. Finding materials to work with at a reasonable price is very doable.  Flushing out the deals and recycling items is the best way to accomplish this.

Retail Stores

Stores like Michael’s, Jo-Ann’s, and Hobby Lobby of course carry a wide array of art and craft material and often offer 40% off coupons. Michael's and Jo-Ann's will accept each other's coupons.  Also, Home improvement stores like Lowes and Home Depot carry many other items for various home projects.

Recycling items

Often the best and cheapest items are not found at retail stores, however. Recycling items saves both money and the environment. Ceramics, china, pottery, marbles, leftover tile, and old jewelry are great for mosaics. Used picture frames, furniture, mirrors, linens, lace, hardware, and many other items can be repurposed, repainted, rejuvenated.

Thrift and resale stores

Thrift and resale stores located in the West Valley include The Goodwill, The Salvation Army, Savers, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore. These stores not only keep tons of items from landfills, but they reinvest into the community to help those less fortunate. Keep these places in mind when getting rid of unwanted items also as they accept all types of donations.

Other places to find deals

Garage/tag sales, estate sales, and flea markets are great places to unearth some fantastic finds and have fun doing it. Craigslist and Freecycle are also wonderful online sources. Freecycle policy is that you post a free item before requesting a free item. Craigslist has a free section but many other items can be found dirt cheap.

Try to imagine an item used in a new way. Think outside the box. Be original and have fun!
