Paint is the most versatile and inexpensive material available for renovating and reinvigorating a homes appearance. Here are 10 ways to use paint to give a home new life:

1. Ceilings: A tray ceiling is an excellent place for a faux finish or stencil to bring the eye up. No tray ceiling? Add a little color anyway. A light tint of the wall color will visually expand the space. A darker shade will have the opposite effect.

2. Moldings: Who says moldings have to be white? Black is elegant. Tan is subtle yet retains the Southwest flair. In a child's room match the decor - remember it's only paint.

3. Cabinets: If cabinets are worn or unattractive, paint them! Sand off the glossy finish, prime, and paint. Use a paint made for furniture or trim to avoid having to seal. However, use satin paint for the base if adding a faux finish then seal.

4. Furniture: Wether it's spray painting metal patio furniture or hand-painting a table, desk or chair, painting furniture is a sure way to spruce up a home.

5. Wall art: Use paint to unify a grouping of pictures by painting the frames one color. Alternately make unique artwork by painting a canvas or panel with colors found in the home. No artistic talent necessary, just imagination.

6. Paint the front door: The front door is the first thing people see when entering and needs to make a good impression. Choose a color that will make it stand out yet not clash with the surroundings and make sure to use an exterior paint.

7. Block walls: Here in Arizona most homes a surrounded by those ubiquitous block walls. Make a statement by painting the wall behind the garden or ajacent to the patio deep red, cheery yellow, or midnight blue. Most home owner's accociations don't regulate what colors to use on the inside facing walls. Use a paint made for cement or patios.

8. Accent walls: Accent walls are a great way to add a splash of color or whimsy. A bold color on one wall can be perfect while that same color, if used in the entire room, would be jarring or overwhelming.

9. Floors: If properly prepped, paint adheres well to wood floors. Add a marquetry design or a border around the room. Give the floor a good seal when done painting.

10. Patios: Cement patios are a perfect place to add color. Paints and stains made specifically for patios last years. For stenciling or smaller decorative accents as opposed to painting the entire patio try Deco Art Patio Paint. Make sure to follow the proper preparation techniques before painting to ensure long last results.
