Selecting the right shades for your home is not an easy task.
The help of a Design Professional is recommended as they are experts in the field.
Honeycomb Shades are very popular these days. They are reasonably priced and accommodate contemporary, modern High Rise and traditional styles.
They have the look and feel of fabric and provide a soft feel to any room. They won't fade even in direct sun locations. They are energy efficiency and an excellent Eco-friendly choice. A favorite for many as they are low maintenance too!
If you live in a High Rise you will need to select the FR (Flame Retardant) ones. They are a little more expensive, but well worth it and in compliance with most CC&Rs. There is a bigger chance of having a fire in a High Rise than in a single home. The risk is much higher, since many residents smoke and share a wall with you.
These shades are also known as Cellular Shades or Honeycomb Window Blinds. They are designed in the same way as horizontal blinds.
The unique hexagonal cell shape of these window coverings provides substantial insulation against heat and cold, yet they are light.
They will keep rooms warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
Sizes:
The size of the cell itself varies from 3/8" to 3/4".
It really depends on what works best for your design project.
Larger pleats, such as ¾" Cell shades are commonly used in larger windows. While the 3/8" cell shades and smaller cell shades will be perfect for a small to mid-size window.
Single cell or double cell construction is a personal choice.
The single cell construction weighs less, so is a perfect fit for large windows.
The double cell construction provides better insulation.
A popular shade is the 3/8" double cell.
Popular options:
Top down bottom up
Light filtering
FR Blackout
Cordless
Cordloop
Selection:
Consider the opaqueness or light level.
Light filtering: allows light to filter through the shade but still gives privacy.
Blackout: will provide total blockage.
Cordloop: the lift cord stays the same length, eliminating the extra cord hanging down when the shade is raised. Excellent safety feature for children.
Cordless: as it states, there is no cord, you will manually raise or lower, or can have it motorized. It is the safest for kids and pets.Top Down/Bottom allows you to let the window shade drop from the top, as well as rising from the bottom. This is a great for privacy while still allowing light to come into your room.
Note: Honeycomb are not recommended in bathrooms, as they will retain moisture and are prone to mildew.

Thank you! I was trying to decide on which window treatment to get.
What is the range price?
Hard to quote, we need window measurements. They are one of the least inexpensive window coverings available.
How hard are they to install? do we need an Installer if we purchase ourselves?
They are very simple to install and come with instructions, but I would recommend a professional installer who will center them correctly and will know how to adjust the cord.
How easy is it to clean the honeycomb shades?
Dust off with a soft cloth or use a soft brush.
I love my view...can I get the window treatments that give me view but block the sun?
How affortable are the window treatments?
Is there any warranty for the window treatments?
Do you give free window covering consultations?
Yes we do. We go and measure and give you a quote. We only do free consultations locally.
very very helpful--i had no idea there were so many choices
what is the most ecofriendly shade option available?
The green and organic cellular shade.
what is the best option for someone with allergies especially to dust?
Any window coverings that does not attract dust and tat are sheer and are low maintenance. Stay away from wood blinds, drapes which attract dust and would need constant cleaning.
I would never have been to survive this cold without my Honeycomb shades in the bathroom. They provide total insulation in our bathroom which is not heated.
Ventilate the bathroom as mildew will grow in the cell construction.
I have the sheer ones and i get compliments no-stop. They are light and stack up well to the top when raised. My favorites really.
