Is your partner cheating online? Here's how you can tell

Online affairs have become a growing menace to marriages and committed relationships today.

But how can you tell if your spouse or significant other is cheating online?

What are the signs of an online affair?    What should you look for if you suspect an internet affair?

3 Types of Behavior

There are 3 types of behavior to be alert for, if you think your partner might be having a cyber affair.

  • secretive or suspicious behavior
  • nervous behavior
  • defensive behavior

Secretive or Suspicious Behavior

  • a sudden increase in the amount of time spent on the computer.
  • using the computer at odd or unusual times of the day or night.
  • using the computer at times the two of you would normally spend  with each other.
  • constantly changing the passwords to his or her e-mail account(s).
  • deleting computer history.
  • password protecting his or her computer or laptop when they never did  so before.
  • insisting on privacy when surfing the Net.
  • moving  the family computer to a locked room, or more private area of the home.
  • taking his or her laptop to another room to go online

Nervous Behavior

  • repeatedly looking over his or her shoulder, or glancing around while using the computer.
  • checking to see where you are before he or she goes online.
  • making a concerted effort to position the screen away from your view.
  • blocking your view of the monitor or laptop screen if you get too close.
  • becoming overly possessive of his or her computer or laptop, passwords, e-mail account when they openly shared these things before.

Defensive Behavior

  • getting angry or lashing out at you if you inquire about his or her online activities.
  • insisting that the person he or she is constantly communicating with online is “just a friend.”
  • stubbornly clinging to the belief that online infidelity or cyber affairs are not “real” infidelity,
  • accusing you of being jealous of his or her online friend.
  • accusing you of  prying into his or her personal affairs.

These are just a few examples of the kind of behavior that can alert you to the fact that your spouse or significant other is involved in an online affair.

A Fool Proof Test for Online Infidelity

What if you find an abundance of telltale signs indicating possible online infidelity, or suddenly see these types of behaviors, and your spouse or significant other insists there’s nothing going on?

What if he or she insists the person they’re constantly communicating with online is just a friend?

There’s a surefire way to find out.  This foolproof test will tell you whether or not your partner is cheating online.

Ask your spouse or significant other if you can sit beside him or her and observe the exchange of correspondence back and forth.

How does he or she react?

If he or she makes excuses, gives trumped up reasons why you can’t do this or vehemently objects, then you have your answer as to how innocent or harmless their internet friendship really is.   _______________________________________________________________
