Your man may be more susceptible to infidelity if he’s wearing red, or if a willing woman in his presence is wearing this color.

Women Are Attracted to Men Wearing Red

According to a follow-up study led by Andrew Elliot of the University of Rochester which was recently published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology, women are more attracted to men who are wearing red.

In fact, Elliot and his researchers found that whether a man is wearing red (a shirt, sweater, jacket -- even a red tie) or surrounded by red, women will find him more sexually desirable and attractive.

Men Are Attracted to Women Wearing Red

Elliot’s first study on the relationship between color and behavior, done in 2008, revealed that the color red had the same effect on women that it was later found to have on men. Women wearing red tops (dresses, sweaters, blouses, jackets) were considered to be much more appealing to men than when they were dressed in colors other than red.

What’s even more interesting about these findings is that both women and men were completely unaware of the stimulating impact the color red had on their perceptions of, and behavior toward, the opposite sex. In addition to enhancing romantic feelings in men, researchers Daniela Niesta Kayser, Andrew J. Elliot, and Roger Feltman found that men were prompted to sit closer, and ask more intimate questions, when a woman is wearing red. What the Findings About Red Mean to Your Relationship

If you’ve got a spouse or significant other who is prone to infidelity, make sure you accompany him when he’s wearing red. Women are more apt to flirt with him when he’s wearing this color. Hopefully, if you’re with him they’ll exercise some restraint. See 7 Signs He Might Be the Cheating Kind.

If he's going out without you or having a night out with the guys, help him choose his outfit, and make sure he’s not wearing anything red. Women are more likely to make a play for him if he is. Remove the temptation.

If he’s lacking in self-restraint and women are tempted to flirt with him because he’s wearing red, he may lack sufficient willpower to resist the temptation -- especially if the woman is wearing red, too.

If he has a roving eye and the two of you are out together, make sure you’re the one wearing red. It will help keep his attention focused on you.

If you’re in mixed company, keep a watchful eye on him if there are other women around him who are wearing red.
