Left Coast Live is bringing over 100 bands and performers to San Jose. Here is Part Two of a sampling of some local indie bands you will want to try to catch this weekend! (also see Part One)
The Left Coast Live Music Festival & Conference features an impressive line-up of headliners, including OK Go, Ya La Tengo, Neon Trees, Crash Kings, and Free Energy - among others.
But if you only stick to the main stage, you will be missing out on some great up-and-coming local indie bands. With over a hundred artists, the following list is little better than a tiny peek that leaves out many great artists. Hopefully, what is here inspires you to explore what Left Coast Live has to offer of the Bay Area indie music scene.
Part One highlighted Friday's local indie band line-up. Here is the scoop on Saturday.
Local indie bands to catch on Saturday:
Orange Peels: Hailing out of Sunnyvale, the Orange Peels make a shimmering sort of indie pop rock that’s deftly layered, very catchy, a tad dreamy, and so darn good you will be amazed if you have not heard of them before. (MySpace / LCL Profile).
Lisa Dewey & The Lotus Life: With four albums and two EPs under her belt, Lisa Dewey will captivate audiences with her ethereal voice and band’s dreamy and multilayered instrumentation (MySpace / LCL Profile).
Two Sheds Based out of Sacramento and featuring lovely soulful female vocals as an anchor to their deeply resonant and bluesy folk rock sound, Two Sheds has mastered the art of quietly building intensity. (MySpace / LCL Profile)
Weather Pending: A San Francisco trio that creates lush down-tempo electronic lounge music with more warmth and texture than is often found in the genre. Mixing elements of jazz, world, pop, dub, soul and hip hop music with smooth and sultry female vocals, this one will gently beguile you. (MySpace / LCL Profile).
The Mumlers: San Jose’s very own multi-instrumental and multi-member folk collective. Combining folk, jazz, doo-wop, retro-rock, and chamber pop, The Mumlers are sure to delight audeinces with their diversity. (MySpace / LCL Profile).
Doctor Nurse: This San Jose band will be serving up their folk-inflected experimental / garage rock - or as they describe it, "melodramitic popular song.". (MySpace / LCL Profile).
Also, be sure to check out Fragile Stage (MySpace / LCL Profile), , Buckeye Knoll (MySpace / LCL Profile), and Worker Bee (MySpace / LCL Profile) - all also from the San Jose / San Francisco Bay Area.
