Passion Pit the next breakout dance rock band? Or Bust?

Passion Pit: The next MGMT? Or bust? We’ll know soon when they drop their first full-length titled “Manners” on May 19. The track listing is as follows:

1. Make Light
2. Little Secrets
3. Moth’s Wings
4. The Reeling
5. Eyes As Candles
6. Swimming in the Flood
7. Folds In Your Hands
8. To Kingdom Come
9. Sleepyhead
10. Let Your Love Grow Tall
11. Seaweed Song

Their music has been described as everything from indie rock to electronic to psychedelic to dance pop. To me this music sounds most like the experience you would have if Aladdin (Yes the cartoon) was DJ’ing a virtual reality dance party you attended where everyone was on LSD. Ok that’s a little bit of a stretch. Maybe psychedelic dance-rock works better.

Other notes: “The Reeling” is the first single. “Sleepyhead” was previously released on the 2008 debut EP Chunk of Change, which is available for download on iTunes. Both videos can be found on YouTube. I don't want to label Passion Pit a breakout band or bust until the official release comes out, but if you head over to the downloads link at the bottom you can hear a few tracks off of "Manners" and they all sound great.

Passion Pit will be playing two shows in New York City’s Bowery Ballroom Friday June 19th and Saturday June 20th. Better call Aladdin now.
