The show was unbelievable. After seeing them play at the Electric Factory two years ago I never imagined they would be headlining their own arena tour playing in front of sold out crowds. But last night the show didn’t miss a beat. KoL covered every record and even went beyond by playing a new song for now dubbed by fans as “Devil Song.”

In this month’s Rolling Stone article the band mentions the new record and where their sound and style will go to next. They go on to say they do not care about what is 'cool,' and it seems like they have begun to incorporate that into the new record. I think a lot of bands get too concerned about how they 'should' sound and I wish more bands would just make music that sounds good to them no matter the style or what others think. I think “Devil Song” is a perfect example of this as it has a real simple, country, and funky feel to it unlike anything else KoL have released.

The rest of the show was KoL at their best. The crowd got into it from the beginning with “Crawl” and “Taper Jean Girl”, fast-paced and well known songs. “Milk” would sound good if you heard it standing on a bus in traffic, in the middle of an Arizona summer, AND deodorant had not yet been invented. Needless to say, it sounded incredible in front of the stage with 20,000 people singing along.

“Sex On Fire” and “Use Somebody” had the best sing along. “Slow Night So Long” was the most rocking tune of the night. "Use Somebody" and "Charmer" had some neat video during the song but I won't spoil it for anyone waiting to see them. And “King of the Rodeo” was deeply missed. By the end of the show, all I wanted to do was get to a computer and order some tickets for the September 12 show at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ.

I’m interested to hear what others thought of the show and of the new song so drop me a line or hit up the comments. Much thanks to Shannon McLaughlin for the photos.

I hear ya, I thought for sure they would bust out King of The Rodeo, but I'm glad we got Four Kicks and Molly's Chambers. I was sad to not see Trani, as well, but incredible show. They get better every time I see them and I am truly happy that they are finally getting as famous as they deserve. Rock on.
