Joie Blaney/Dead Blonde Girlfriend "Broken Melody" CD Review

Broken Melody encompasses those "get the needle off the record" moments in life.  The title track's refrain goes on repeat just like mistakes we make until we learn our lessons in life and move along.  "World Gone Wrong" is a symphonic lullaby and "Sad Little Song" is a simple, catchy tune.  Blaney's heart wrenching, writing talents are highlighted in "One from the Heart" and "Goodbye Girl", "Put on your best dress, the one that saves you from your loneliness....Your face lights me up as it drags me down...".  The overall feel of the record is a good with Blaney's talents stretching into new territory leaving his punk roots for greener pastures.  The transition is still fighting itself in this recording, but the stand outs prove that Blaney's talents are exploding explorations that will grow richer in his blossoming musical tapestries.
