Coming soon to Xbox Live Indie Games
I'm a sucker for twin stick shooters. Games like Super Stardust HD, Geometry Wars, and Everyday Shooter are brilliantly designed games with simple mechanics that keep me coming back for more. (That's how addicts place the blame elsewhere!)
When I found out about Duologue, a new indie title from Funavision, I felt compelled to get the word out. Right now the game is in the review process but should be arriving on Xbox Live Indie Games soon.
While the controls will remind you of Geometry Wars and its ilk, nothing else will. Duologue eschews the space theme for something a bit more, well, random? You're a tiny tank shooting all manner of bizarre objects and creatures. There also appears to be a color mechanic that shakes up the gameplay, though I'm not positive how this works yet.
The feature set looks impressive for an Xbox Live Indie title:
*60 + levels (basically 20 waves each divided into 3 or more sub-waves)
*23 enemy types each with unique AI and behavior
*3 game modes
*10 medals to earn (kind of like achievements, but not, because we
can't have any)
*Dynamic music that increases/decreases intensity based upon your performance
*4-player local co-op (yes, nice touch guys!)
Based on the trailer, it appears Duologue has a healthy dose of personality. Keep it locked here for updates on this and other indie games.
