Indianapolis Colts place QB Jim Sorgi on injured reserve, re-sign OT Michael Toudouze

The Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday placed backup QB Jim Sorgi on injured reserve with a right shoulder injury.

Sorgi, sixth-year veteran who has been the top backup to Peyton Manning since his rookie season, had been the "inactive" third quarterback the past four games since sustaining the injury. Rookie Curtis Painter, the backup the past four games, will assue that role in the final month of the season.

The Colts also re-signed four-year veteran OT Michael Toudouze, a fifth-round selection in the 2006 NFL Draft who  spent time on the practice squad and active roster during three seasons with the team. He appeared in four games in 2007 and a post-season game in 2008.

The team also signed QB Drew Willy to the practice squad and waived QB Shane Boyd from the practice squad. Willy, a rookie from Buffalo, originally signed as a free agent with Baltimore.
