Indianapolis Colts K Adam Vinatieri expects to be ready for the regular season.
Vinatieri, entering his 14th NFL season – andhis fourth with the Colts – underwent offseason hip and knee surgery. He said Sunday as the Colts reported for 2009 Training Camp his extensive NFL experience should help as he rehabilitates and prepares for the season.
“We're just going slow back into it now, but we should be ready to go for sure by the time the season starts,” Vinatieri said. “We're just trying to make sure we take it slow and get there in time for the regular season. I think everybody has that same mentality.
“It's all kind of coming at the right time. Timing's everything in life, but we'll be ready to go.”
Vinatieri was asked how much the offseason surgeries altered his pre-camp routine.
“I would say I've gotten a lot less practice this offseason than I have in the past,” Vinatieri said. “But thankfully for me, I've done it a bunch of years, so it shouldn't take too long to get it all back. It's one of the timing things, with the new holder and that chemistry. We haven't gotten a lot of work in yet, but we'll do some major catch up and major work during training camp.”
