In this 11th of a series, we'll take a look at the Indianapolis Colts' needs in the 2009 NFL Draft at the safety position:
The 11th part of the look at the Colts 2009 NFL Draft will focus on safeties, a position at which the team may as solid as any place on its roster. An argument could be made that the Colts have the best combination of safeties in the NFL, with not only 2007 Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year Bob Sanders at one safety, but 2007 Pro Bowl selection Antoine Bethea at the other.
The Colts also have Melvin Bullitt, a third-year veteran from Texas A&M, backing up the position. He led the team in interceptions last season with four last season. The Colts have taken safeties early in the draft before – three in the second round this decade – but they re-signed five-year veteran Matt Giordano early this week, further solidifying their depth at the position.
