Indiana added to its 2012 recruiting class with a commitment from Florida high school product Ricky Jones, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound wide receiver from Booker High School in Sarasota. Jones, rated a two star prospect by recruiting experts, was also considering Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky, but at least at one point reportedly had offers from Clemson, Illinois, Minnesota, North Carolina, Stanford, Texas Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia.
Jones' pledge marks the 24th commitment for the Hoosiers, who have 27 offers to give. He'll add depth to a receiving corps that is long on talent, but relatively young. Jones is an experienced returner who may see his initial action on special teams.
IU head coach Kevin Wilson and his staff are trying to round out the class in advance of next week's national signing date. The Hoosiers may be looking to add another quarterback as well as help on the line and at running back. Whiteland High School's Jake Meador, an IU target, recently narrowed his list of possible colleges to three, but ruled out the Hoosiers in favor of Wisconsin, Missouri, and Florida.
