Hundreds of thousands, and possibly over a million Americans upset with an increasingly "non-representative" government marched on Washington yesterday.
But rather than stay and listen to their grievances their President instead chose to hop Air Force One out of town. Once again off at taxpayer expense to yet another one of his healthcare rallies. This one a thousand miles away in much friendlier Minneapolis.
While Obama basked in campaign style chants of "Yes we can!" and "Fired up, ready to go!" the words in Washington were quite different.
From "enough, enough" and "We the People" to "You lie, you lie!" and "Pelosi has to go," the dailymail.co.uk reports the mood was definitely NOT in favor of Obama's plan for health care and his never ending spending.
A culmination of Glenn Beck's 912project , former House Majority Leader Dick Armey's freedomworks.org and other conservative groups, the turnout for yesterday's "March on Washington" surprised not only it's supporters but Washington authorities as well.
None other then the venerable New York Times had to report that
"A sea of protesters filled the west lawn of the Capitol and spilled onto the National Mall on Saturday"....and...."the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours."
The main stream media editors must have been in agony, how DARE these upstarts get in the way of another Presidential rally. (Wouldn't you have loved to been a fly on the wall in those producer meetings when they realized the sheer number of protesters in Washington was going to force them to give coverage to the very people they disdain, AND take away from coverage they had intended to provide their beloved Saint?)
While the administration, its allies in Congress, and the media have done their best to paint the "tea baggers" as an unhinged, dirty, no need to bother with them fringe crowd, the march yesterday showed anything but. Rather it revealed a true grass roots movement rooted in the best of the traditions this country has to offer.
For thousands upon thousands, yesterday was an awakening. Never before protesting anything, they found themselves traveling cross country to join total strangers all for the sake of having their voices heard by a government that has for too long ignored them.
From young to old, white to black, man, woman, Republican, Democrat, Independent, they ALL came together in one unified voice with one unified purpose.
One voice against out of control government spending and the squandering of futures not yet told and generations not yet born.

ACORN is not going to give up their power (no matter how corrupt that power may be) without a fight. Now another high placed nut in the organization has released another rant. Bertha Lewis, ACORN Chief Organizer says:
The relentless attacks on ACORN’s members, its staff and the policies and positions we promote are unprecedented. An international entertainment conglomerate, disguising itself as a “news” agency (Fox), has expended millions, if not tens of millions of dollars, in their attempt to destroy the largest community organization of Black, Latino, poor and working class people in the country. It is not coincidence that the most recent attacks have been launched just when health care reform is gaining traction. It is clear they’ve had these tapes for months.
We are their Willy Horton for 2009. We are the boogeyman for the right-wing and its echo chambers. If ACORN did not exist, the right-wing would have needed to create us in order to achieve their agenda, their missions, their ideal, retrograde America........

If Lewis wasn't trying to be serious this would be absolutely hilarious. With each new statment released by this bunch they just prove once again the need for full investigations. Peel back every layer of this corrupt shell game that has been nothing but a conduit of tax dollars for a few well connected who couldn't get a job wiping the butt of a janitor in the private sector.
I'm sure the Census Bureau letter severing all ties with ACORN for the 2010 census isn't helping the attitude at the top of the treehouse either.

I was delighted to see so many marchers in Washington yesterday. Thank you to all that were there. We need to continue and kick these guys out of Congress and the White House. It has made me so mad that I have started a blog.

There have not been any official "counted" numbers on the March yesterday. However, seeing the sea of people was very inspiring. All Glenn Beck did was provide the idea of 9/12 project. It was organized by the grassroots of America. That says A LOT for the American people who are not willing to give up their freedom. The progressive movement I'm sure is in a panic state, just as Acorn is. They have alot to lose, and we all need to support the couple of young adults that really opened up they eys of the public to how corrupt ACORN is.

A newspaper commentator called ours 'negative energy'. Obviously he was NOT at the march. Inside a sea of over a million sign carrying people in Washington DC yesterday, everyone was courteous, smiling, sharing 'where did you come here from' stories and sharing also an enormity of positive energy and extraordinary determination. Vehicles were all over the place painted with 'Washington DC or BUST'. I've never in my life seen a crowd as large and as galvanized. This was a cross section of every state in America, each race and political group was represented. It is at their risk, that the administration and Czars ignore this event or postulate further that America WANTS their reform. What we want is for them to STOP trampling the constitution and bankrupting this nation in the process.

It's not a "culmination" - it's a beginning. The main thing learned this weekend by all is that this is not just a few "kooks" - this is a real movement. It's growing, it won't go away, it won't be ignored, people are NOT alone and don't need to be afraid to join.
The media can pretend it's not there but the CongressCritters and the Obama Administration know better. Before the TeaParty Express hit the streets of Washington on Sept 12, they hit the offices in the Capitol on Sept 11.

Obama has awakend a sleeping giant. These were not protesters, organizers, students, they were all of the above. They came from everywhere and paid there own way, something Acorn and SEIU pays for with their rent a mobs and their pre printed corporate protest signs.
Step back, look closely. DC police (which can judge crowd size) say 1.5 million. Look again, there has NEVER been a conservative political protest of this size, never. These folks don't do protests. They work and are busy people. It took someone like Barry Soetoro to anger them and bring them out when they have never done anything like this in their lives.
That can not be ignored, it is true anger and these people vote. Pols may want to consider that in 2010 if they still want their job.

By some of these responses people are confirming that Fox News tactics of labeling and use of fear/anger psychology is working.
Wow. A few things. First, some 70,000 people showed up in Washington DC, not hundreds of thousands, and no where near a million. Washington DC did see around 2 million people there last January for Barack Obama's inauguration. Also, polling numbers (and they are never completely accurate but they are there none the less and they do say something) are now jumping in support of President Obama's leadership and support for a public health option (see the Washington Post) in health care reform. But the best measure of public sentiment is, as always, elections themselves. We had an election in November 2008, which resulted in the Democratic Party winning the White House and majorities in both the Senate and the House. There is a reason the Democratic Party has a majority in our government right now...
Its was breathtaking to see all those wonderful, patriotic Americans taking back our country and my heart was with them all.
God bless Glenn Beck and all these people who want to save our country. I am so proud of them. I did not vote for Obama because I saw him for what he is, am empty suit who wants to destroy the Constitution and remake America in his own nightmarish image. 50 to 70 thousand, (according to the Washington Fire Department) attended the march. Video shows Fox producers whipping up yells and screams for the camera. 50 to 70 thousand propaganda drunk, racist slobs shouting, "Glenn Beck! Glenn Beck! Glenn Beck," and some politicians regurgitating insurance company talking points in the form of Joe Wilson style mouth farts. I would hardly call this the best America has to offer.
