Is Lindsey Graham compromised?

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham is perhaps the most irritating personification of the RINO label in the U.S. Senate. Despite the overwhelming evidence against manmade global warming and the irrefutable damage Cap and Trade legislation will do to our tottering economy, Graham has teamed with leftist Senator John Kerry to resurrect that legislation we all thought was going nowhere. Kerry himself recently noted that the recession has reduced greenhouse gas pollution by 6 percent. He wants to see another 14 percent reduction by 2020. Not one given to heavy intellectual lifting, we'll assume Kerry overlooked the implications of that statement. But others have been explicit, suggesting a controlled recession is what’s needed to achieve that result.

Controlled recession! These people are lunatics defined.

But why would any Republican in his right mind join in with this lunacy? Apparently Graham is looking for more. Now, he has gone out on a limb again to join with Democrats in an attempt to resurrect illegal immigrant amnesty again. There is no doubt where the American people stand on amnesty. This is one of the most unpopular issues in the country, and it is hard to square the notion of a decorated JAG lawyer getting behind a movement that so clearly undermines the rule of law.

We all know why the Democrats’ want amnesty. It is the most promising of their many, despicable, underhanded, self-serving plans to pack voter rolls with reliable democrat voters, constitution, rule of law, and the will of the people be damned. But why would Graham be willing to so blatantly stab his Party in the back, especially when the crucial midterm elections appear to be turning in the GOP’s favor?

Admittedly, he is not alone. John McCain has also supported amnesty, although he appears to be backpedaling now, and Graham gets a lot of help from other RINO Republicans on this and other issues in undermining a coherent, principled GOP message.

But Graham always seems to be out front. During the amnesty battle in 2007, Graham was showered with special recognition by the radical amnesty lobbying group National Council of La Raza. And lest their be any doubt, the umbrella group that pushed this legislation in 2007, the Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, was a virulent brew of radical groups funded in large part by George Soros and following the Manufactured Crisis strategy.

In addition to earning the ire of conservative Republicans, none of this has gone over well in Graham's home state, either. Graham has already been repeatedly censured by members of his state’s Republican Party for his positions that “do not serve the interests of South Carolinians,” and there is a move afoot to replace him when he is next up for re-election.

So what exactly is it with Graham? Well, we may have finally learned. An explosive Youtube video posted yesterday demands that Lindsay Graham come out of the “log cabin closet” and admit his homosexuality to the world.

At a Saturday, April 17th Tea Party rally in Greenville, SC, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) President William Gheen demanded that Graham publicly admit what “many people in South Carolina and Washington, DC know.” As Gheen explained:

I personally do not care about Graham's private life, but in this situation his desire to keep this a secret may explain why he is doing a lot of political dirty work for others who have the power to reveal his secrets. Senator Graham needs to come out of the closet inside that log cabin so the public can rest assured he is not being manipulated with his secret.

If that is Graham's motive, it would certainly explain a lot. It would also provide justification for demanding his removal. Gheen is right that Graham’s private life is no one’s business, but if Graham has bought silence about it by agreeing to back these odious, nation-wrecking initiatives, he has betrayed his country, his Party, and utterly destroyed his own credibility.

Here's the ALIPAC video that has gone viral on the web:

Senator Graham is a partiot. He believes in doing what is right for our country and not just for a few partisan individuals who can't fathom that others may be right and they may be wrong.I don't always agree with him, but I know he is not just part of a game to win at all cost. He takes his job seriously and believes he was elected to serve in the best interest of the preople he represents-not just the party. And to suggest that Senator Kerry-who is one of the most cerebral Senators we have in this country is something other than an intellegent and serious man, is really below the belt and childish. And, I know the only reason you say it is because he is a Democrat. It is people like you that have futhered the divisions in this country, insisting that your way is the only way, and all other opinions and efforts don't matter.

Margaret may be retarded. Kerry is a spineless, treasonous coward who is totally devoid of ANY good ideas on how to move our country forward. As for Lindsay Graham, he's been a little too close to the pitcher of kool-aid on several issues. Time to go Lindsay Grahamnesty.

Margaret, while Graham nay be a patriot and doing what is best for our country in your eyes, there are a lot of other Americans who see him as dispicable and bordering on being a traitor for even wanting to give amnesty to illegal alien lawbreakers.
If you remember, at the 2007 LaRaza convention, he told the people "we are going to do it right and we are going to tell the bigots to shut up."
Tell me, is one a bigot because one expects the government to do whats best for the country and not cower to groups that are solely based on race, as LaRaza is. I mean come on, their name when translated into English is "the race." they only look out for latinos, and dont care about whites, blacks, asians, or anyone else. Their motto use to be "for the race, everything. for everyone else, nothing."
the people in south carolina do NOT want amnesty for illegals. that poll has been out there for a couple of years

People who think that Republicans and Democrats working together is somehow anti-American don't know history and have their heads up their butts. The author of this article, Simpson, has his head in the sand if he thinks global warming is not real.

God, how I wish critics could form an argument. I am so sick of baseless, ad hominem attacks. Do you know that an ad hominem attack is a form of logical fallacy? It advances no argument, proves no point, and resolves nothing. It is a form of mindless intimidation engaged in by people who don't have the brains to argue or don't have the intellectual integrity to admit when they are wrong. Pretty much describes the left. Those of you who read this know exactly who you are. So do the rest of us.

First of all, you spelled Lindsey Graham's name wrong, which is a cardinal sin in journalism. He's doing the right thing and understands the future is green. He does not support cap and trade, but knows we must put a cap on greenhouse gas emissions. Jim, you're living in the Dark Ages. Get with it! You don't need to be so mean, if you have a good argument (which you don't), that would make you look more credible.

If Senator Lindsey Graham is gay, as many in Washington and SC believe him to be, he should be honest with American citizens about that. If it is a secret he wants to conceal, such knowledge could be used against him by special interests in DC to gain advantage over the American public with Graham.

So the only reason the Dems want immigration reform is to pack the voting rolls in their favor. Which means the only reason the GOP opposes reform is to influence the voting rolls in their favor. What if every illegal in the country promised to vote Republican in exchange for amnesty? Would that work for you?

Sadly, Dems never seem to want to play by the rules. FDR tries to pack the Supreme Court, Obama wants a new Democratic voting block by legalizing people who entered our country illegally, reconciliation, executive orders, etc...give me a break! People who are not U.S. citizens and enter our country illegally are subject to law enforcement, not a reward. And elected officials who don't have the nads or the integrity to uphold our laws while seeking some political benefit need to pack their bags.

you said there was "overwhelming evidence against manmade global warming". You said Lindsey Graham might be gay, and so should be variously whipped or chained or diselected or whatever. At what point does your concept of evidence about climate change meet your concept of evidence about a duly elected member in good standing of the US Congress? Because we could save a lot of money on Large Hadron Colliders if we knew when those two concept would meet. There will be quarks and queeks and gheens and Higgs Bosun's Mates lying all over the place, and your head will be a smoking crater, blood but no brains everywhere.

PS It's touching your concern over Graham being blackmailed. Because that's totally not happening now. Because it would be immoral and dangerous if otherwise upstanding and valuable people in this society were demonized by organized groups just to accumulate and maintain political power. That would make those groups guilty of very bad behavior.

I don't understand. The will of the people is somehow served by having less people be able to vote? I would understand the logic if the author were charging that Democrats were trying to keep Republican voters off the "roles" (sic), but that's not what he wrote, is it? Apparently, the will of the people can only be expressed by non-Democratic voters. Interesting theory of democracy. Who determines which voters represent the "will of the people", anyway? Republicans always win, times infinity, no backsies? Seriously, how can one complain that one party is winning an election unfairly by having more votes?

Your credibility went swirling down the boghole in the first paragraph - "overwhelming scientific consensus" versus AGW? About 99.8% of climatologists would beg to differ.

As for Graham, his orientation would be less relevant if he wasn't associated with a party that exploits homophobia to get votes (cf. the GOP's replacement of Iraq with gay marriage as the central issue in the 2004 election).
