Ron Paul on Daily Show to promote latest book, 'End the Fed' (VIDEO)

Ron Paul returned to the Daily Show last night to talk about his latest book, End the Fed. Paul is well-known for railing against the Federal Reserve for decades. Earlier this year, in February, he penned HR 1207: Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, to audit the Fed. The bill has gained tremendous support among congressmen and Americans alike. People are finally beginning to understand the problem of giving a central bank complete control over the money supply with no oversight. The Financial Services Committee held a hearing on the bill last Friday, September 25th. On Paul's congressional website, he said of the hearing, "[It] was a major step forward in getting the bill passed." The bill currently has 295 cosponsors and there is also strong support for the companion bill in the Senate.

Daily Show host Jon Stewart mentioned the recent tea party movement that is now calling for many of the same things as Paul. Stewart asked, "Do you feel like you were like a cool indie band, and then someone came and kind of stole your sound, and got super big? How do you feel when you're watching that develop over the last eight or nine months?" Paul responded, "It scares the daylights out of me."

Paul's ideas of limited government gaining mainstream momentum are the best thing that could happen to this country. Because of that, his short-lived run for the presidency could hardly be called a failure.

Freedom for all people to live as we choose. Look past what RP agrees with because it's not about that. For Example Dr. Paul is against abortion, but he is all for you having the freedom to have one. He stands for personal Liberty and freedom like no other.

Thank you for your article MS. Morill. Dr. Ron Paul conveyed a lot of positive energy as he advocated sound money via abolishing the Fed. This issue that is central to the well being of our Nation, Communities and personal lives!

Washington Senator Maria Cantwell was one of the few Democrat Senators who courageously voted against the 800 Billion+ bailout in 2008. HOWEVER CANTWELL IS NOT SUPPORTING S 604: Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009 (Senate version of HR 1207). Moreover, because Cantwell sits on the Financial Services committee, she is a key player in the success of sound money. You can contact her senior tax policy adviser, Lauren Bazel at lauren_bazel@cantwell.senate.gov or at

    Thank you

Ron Paul is a simple minded douche bag who appeals to naive political neophytes who have not a clue how the real world works.

His small following is more like a cult than a political movement: All "praise and worship the great ron paul".

More worrisome is the fact that white supremacists, right wing militias and other nefarious and dangerous types use Paul as a political cover for their own dark desires.

The fact that Paul is a racist and a homophobic bigot who would deny a women's right to reproductive health care is conveniently ignored by those preaching the good word of ron paul.

simple minded douchebag? Ron Paul? Let's look at the facts:

who voted for the bailout? Ron Paul or Obama? Obama.

who voted to continue funding the iraq war? Ron Paul or Obama? Obama.

who votes to perpetuate a broken financial system? Ron Paul or Obama? Obama.

Keep hoping and dreaming Democrat sycophants and Republican losers... Ron Paul is the only one about why our financial system is unsustainable (it's not greed, it's the fact that government can "create money" out of thin air).

ROFLMAO is the classic example of an uneducated hack. Want to talk about a cult? How about those Obamabots. Ron Paul is an OBGYN and your telling me he denies woman the right to reproductive health care?

Get your facts straight. Read a book for once. Stop listening to the garbage you hear on your television.

Oh, and Paul has forgotten more about economics than you can possibly ever know. Simple minded? Right...

I really appreciate the way Jon Stewart conducted the interview, it was entertaining, he made a couple funny remarks and showed Ron Paul respect, that was very important to me. I was a little worried about how Dr. Paul would be treated, I have so much admiration and respect for him, and again, I am very glad Jon did the interview the way he did.

O.K.- Sanity & Spin check time. Ron Paul does NOT support a federal ban on abortion. (He is against it personally, and would not provide abortions himself) Take a deep breath, and try to understand the concept of personal choice... got it? Now you can understand this. Simple, eh?

Please! The Tea Party supporters have very little in common with Ron Paul. Ron Paul has held these same positions for years and has been unflinching. He backs his beliefs with facts. The tea parties are publicity stunts with little to no substance. Half of the people don't even know what they are protesting other than "The Government's Bad"...yet they were no where to be found in the past eight years when the Bush Administration INFLATED government to the size it is now. Meanwhile Ron Paul was openly saying the SAME THINGS that he is saying now, to hell with party lines. Ron Paul may say things I do not agree with, but I would never question his motives. He is in it for America and the American People, he fights against REAL problems, while the tea parties try to cause them.

Alix777, I understand where you're coming from, but I disagree with your views of the Tea Party supporters. I was skeptical when I first started going to 9/12 meetings, but the people attending really have a solid understanding of the Constitution and how the government is growing out of control (the wars and the FED are being protested as well). They also understand it's both Republicans and Democrats. And there are a LOT of Ron Paul supporters there, too. Maybe you didn't realize people like Rand Paul are involved in Tea Parties, too? Sure, there are those that are just Obama haters, but they are definitely in the minority. Don't believe everything you see/hear on TV.
