In a 26-15 vote, the bill that would have criminalized being in Arizona illegally, failed to pass in the house with the needed 31 votes. This bill would have made Arizona the only state to make the presence of illegal immigrants a crime, by expanding trespassing laws.
According to the Arizona Republic, Russell Pearce, the sponsor of the defeated bill said “Some people support law breakers over law keepers. How many more officers are we going to have killed?” He further said that he will continue his effort to make this bill into law and is considering collecting signatures that would allow this bill to be on the ballot.
Opponents argue that the bill would create a dangerous climate for racial profiling and over burden police with the task of enforcing immigration, a job usually left to the federal government.
The failure of this bill ensures us that the raging debate will continue while offering no real solutions. Leaving immigration enforcement to the federal government has proved ineffective, to say the least. Arizona had an opportunity to be part of a much needed solution to a significant problem, and it failed. Those elected into office, whose first priority is to their citizens, failed. By placing this legislation on the ballot maybe, just maybe, the voices of the citizens will finally be heard rather than ignored.

Every American should demand that every employer should implement the E-Verify illegal worker extraction mechanism from the workplace. They should then display the E-Verify notice, as does the El Pollo Loco franchises. All those businesses that fail to place this notice, where the public audience cannot see it--Should be boycotted and black listed? E-Verify is continuously upgraded and so there is no excuse for not using it in any factory, office or any industry? Every worker should be aware of E-Verify, and contact ICE if they notice anything unusual regarding payroll or other illegal activity?
Mr. Pearce is a very smart Legislator and understands fully the damage of this illegal immigration. He will get that law passed and enforced.
If all 50 States would get laws passed like Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, Utah, Georgia and a number of other States, we could get a real bite into theis illegal immigration. I, for one, am sick and tired of these ILLEGAL ALIENS snubbing their nose at our immigration laws and demonstrating on American soil for AMNESTY. Just who the hell do these people think they are? Yes, who?
Maybe we can start to get our Country back and build it up again from the destruction of the ILLEGAL ALIENS. They have made America their breeding place at the expense of the American taxpayer, then we have to school the illegal alien child and give it health care. Free health care for the parents (parent), public housing, like obama's aunt, and the list goes on.
Get rid of the ILLEGAL ALIENS and we get rid of all the problems that go with them.
We will remember the names of the gutless weenies who voted "no".
to many politicians are in big biz pocket for this to pass! Arizona needs to vote out the people that did not vote yes on this bill! Mexico's second highest income is from illegals sending money home! google it! do you understand how really HUGE that is?? how many of them MUST be here illegally to make that happen?? 12 million? HA! more like 40 million?? we are being invaded, without one shot being fired! does anybody have a CLUE?? whos job it is to protect and defend the United States?? to ABIDE by the CONSTITUTION???? what does it mean? to break the law? why all the infighting? they broke the LAW! period! google "operation w*tback" Eisenhower had this very same problem. he quietly and EFFECTIVLY took care of it! why can we not do the same??? they walked, rode, swam over here. they can do the same going home taking their anchor babies with them! and then, if they want. they can GET IN LINE. like all the rest of the "LAW ABIDING " people that do it the RIGHT WAY!!!
Let's get those petitions to make it a ballot proposition circulating! The people of the state will get this done in spite of the idiots that failed to vote for it! The 1986 amnesty was a TOTAL failure! Never again!
if you legalize them you will have a new source of revenue
The real tragedy in all of this is that the lobbyist for the local Catholic diocese was able to gut the Senate counterpart to this bill by getting a few gullible senators to amend the anti-illegal bill to become an anti abortion bill.
xrl.us /be2ucm - get rid of the space after the period to see the document on the local diocese's website.
The Roman church gets to whine about the "children" and therefore keeps the flow of Catholics from Mexico going.
