The House of Representatives has passed the new spending bill that authorizes six Cabinet agencies $1.1 trillion (with a T) in the fiscal year 2010. This bill shows the shameless nature of Congress has not changed one bit in the last few years, nor has this economic crisis caused the Representatives here to be any more careful with taxpayer money.
According to the Taxpayers for Common Sense website, hidden within this bill are 5,244 pork projects that fatten this bill and have nothing at all to do with any Cabinet position. These projects will cost taxpayers $3.898 billion! These projects are not confined to either Democrats or Republicans! Both aisles of Congress are part of the problem in this matter. The only difference is that one side is very open about it and encourage it; the other side does it in secret, while denouncing the ones who add pork into the bill. Both sides are to blame and neither are set to change their ways anytime soon. Reported on Fox News today, the national debt is expected to double to $24 trillion dollars in just ten years!
Where are the champions of the people? Where are the public outcries for a balanced budget? Why is this Congress adding to an out of control debt that was given to them? When will they learn that they cannot keep spending money they don’t have? Where is the fiscal responsibility that was so eagerly promised last year?
"Every discouragement should be thrown in the way of men who undertake to trade without capital." --Thomas Jefferson to Nathaniel Tracy, 1785. Papers 8:399
