Back in the 1970's, American  teenagers were spending time in front of the tv watching David Cassidy act on a show called The Partridge Family.  They also lined up on droves for his concerts.  In 2009  American teenagers spend time in front of the tv watching David act on a show called Ruby and the Rockits and they line up for his concerts. Like the one he played in Bensalem Bucks County on August 14.

About 5000 people showed up. They came from across the street and across the globe.  From such places as London, The Canary Islands and West Africa.  David took the stage just after 7:00 PM and did not dissapoint. He opened up with "Heartbeat".  The show was a fun show with David frequently bantering with the audience in between songs.

A  steady stream of womens underwear was tossed onto the stage as David would pick it up, and toss it back.  At one point a David Cassidy beach towel was spotted and Cassidy ask for it to be given to him. "Since I'm not signing, (autographs) I mights as well sweat on this".  Cassidy then wiped  his face and tossed the towel back. to the delighted fan.

Fans wanting to hear Patridge Family standards were not dissapointed.  "Cherish"  "Echo Valley" and of course "I think I Love You" were all played amost others.  The others were "Hush" from Deep Purple. David wailed on a red and white guitar.  An audience sing along with the Beatles song "Hey You've Got To Hide Your Love Away". David  would make the crowd sing the "HEY"  to his satisfaction. When the band did "Brass in Pocket" Cassidy took the place of his drummer and kept the beat while Terry Colette, a stunning and talented drummer took over the vocals of Chrissy Hynde.

Bensalem is just north of Philadelphia.  People would think that David Cassidy would not know how to find Bensalem  on a map would be wrong. "I used to come up here when I was a kid",  He lamented about his memories about Lambertville NJ and New Hope PA.

The show was free. Parking was free. The crowd was friendly . This is exactly the same type of event that should take place in the township. David cassidy was the highlight of the concert season at the Ampitheater and the highlight of the summer of 2009 for many people.

I would have LOVED to be there - nice he's still talking about the Canary Islands (thanks to Rob, his keyboard player)! I think this review captured David's quick humour and sense of fun. Thank you! Jane (Fuerteventura, Canary Islands)

That was a great review. I was at the show and it was simply fabulous! The audience loved it and as David has on stage, that is what is most important to him...that the audience leave happy. If critics enjoy the show it's great, but if they don't, it's not important. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Alex, because we certainly did.
And Bensalem was a lovely, friendly town! Thanks for the hospitality.

PS: The drummer/singer's name is Teri Coté
