On Tuesday, Kiet Quoc Bui, 50, who owns three restaurants in Northern Virginia was arrested and charged with knowingly employing and harboring illegal aliens.
According to court documents, between April 5, 2005, and April 20, 2010, Bui employed at least seven illegal aliens at his Viet House restaurants in Fairfax and Alexandria.
Local police were reportedly investigating Bui for money laundering, when they discovered that he was hiring illegal aliens.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Scott W. Robinson, the illegal aliens were always paid in cash with kitchen staff making $100 a day, while busboys made $75 a day.
Agent Robinson also stated that Bui admitted that he knowingly hired the illegal aliens, but that it is a common occurrence throughout the restaurant business.

I never ceaase to be amazed at how many people gladly ignore our laws. And I am speaking of the greedy employers who hire illegal labor. Both are guilty. But looking at the name of the person who illegally hired illegal workers, it is not surprising. People who have come to this country in the last "great wave" have no feelings of what it truly means to be an American. And, sadly, many Americans have forgotten that too.
I agree with the poster before me. It is not acceptable to cheat, lie or steal here in the US. It is not acceptable to bring those practices with you from another country. If the Feds were more diligent about clamping down on the large cash economy, perhaps the tax burden on all of us W-2 recipients and our employers would not be as great. We also need E-Verify to be required to check all jobs in the US, existing and future hires, as well as for business licensees and contractors and subcontractors.
"Everybody else does it so it's ok." What a lame excuse that is. Kids use it all the time, but responsible parents have to teach them to follow the rules. Greedy criminal employers should be doing jail time in every instance. Our leaders are leading people far away from the principals that made America great. Comprehensive immigration reform(amnesty) will bring more disrespecting illegal invaders.
The admitted criminal restaurant owner is correct--it IS a common practice in his business and other business all over the country. I was waiting for the line, "Why am I being singled out?"
Estoban, the problem is ENFORCEMENT OR LACK THEREOF! Congress can pass any law, the toughest law in the land against the employers of illegals but as long as the word "knowingly" is part of Federal Immigration law as it currently is, that is the huge loophole that allows these bastards to get away with having employed illegals and not having to do time for it. Remove "knowingly" and we've STILL got a problem with ENFORCEMENT!
There are, as Mike Cutler says only a few hundred ICE and BP agents in the interior of the country doing (interior) enforcement for 40 to 60 million illegals. Of course, at present, their hands are tied as Obama/Napolitano won't allow them to arrest all illegals--only the ones with felonies on their records which is a de facto Amnesty.
Enforcement, enforcement, enforcement. I just received the following reply from Immigration and National Security expert Mike Cutler. I think it applies to this conversation. He says,
"There are about 6,000 ICE special agents who are charged with interior enforcement but often they are engaged in investigating customs violations. Furthermore, the great majority of ICE managers came from Legacy Customs and so they have no real background or inclination to enforce immigration laws. I have been told that most of these bosses are more concerned with someone who produces counterfeit Gucci wallets that counterfeit passports!"
When enforcement is only funded to go after 4% of the invaders and mangement is seeking all possible loophole to keep the invaders here, we're not being served. Walrus, please, both parties are equally incompetent and cruel in their adherance to their own agendas at the expense of the American people.
Even law makers and politicians have history of hiring illegals. It's common for Americans when they are trying to save a buck
