During a Friday press conference, U.S. National Guard Bureau of Communications Jack Harrison announced that the 1,200 National Guard troops that are supposed to be sent to the U.S./Mexican border “will not be doing direct law enforcement.”
Harrison described their duty along the dangerous border to a reporter with CNS News, saying: “The two mission sets are criminal analysts and enter-identification teams.” He continued: “I can tell you that guardsmen will not be doing direct law enforcement on the southwest border.”
So, just as we suspected…the National Guard troops will be used as file clerks and observers, trained to retreat or step aside when drug and human smugglers invade this country.
Of course, we have seen this type of useless political window dressing before.
President Bush announced in 2006 that he was sending National Guard units to the Mexican border to assist with border enforcement.
However, before issuing the order, he placed a phone call to then- Mexican President Vicente Fox, to reassure him that he was not “militarizing the border.”
Bush made good on his promise to Fox with the hamstrung rules of engagement under which the Guardsmen were operating.
On January 3, 2007, an armed paramilitary group of six to eight men, crossed the border into the United States and over ran a National Guard post located near Sasabe, AZ. The Guardsmen from Tennessee quickly packed up their equipment, jumped back into their truck, and fled the scene. That sorry action by the Guardsmen clearly demonstrated what our president instructed them to do...NOTHING!
Tennessee National Guard spokesman Randy Harris told the Associated Press: "The soldiers did exactly what their mission was, to pull back if they're approached by armed personnel coming across the border."
In an award ceremony which was closed to the press, the Tennessee National Guardsmen involved were presented with achievement medals for their actions described their spokesman as a “tactical retreat.”
The office of then Gov. Janet Napolitano (D-AZ) released a report to the Associated Press which praised the Tennessee National Guard unit for fleeing the scene in the face of an armed incursion into the United States. The report said: "We see this as a triumph of the training, discipline, and professionalism of the Guardsmen performing their mission."
The current Guard deployment under Obama is scheduled to last up to one year, and promises to be just as pointless and embarrassing as the last.

Obama and the Democrats as always are playing game. This November remove from office all the politicians, Republicans and Democrats, who are playing games regarding the troops. And in 2012 we have to elect another president because Obama supports amnesty for illegals and Obama opposes SB 1070.
I guess we'll have to wait until some drug runner plows down a few of them with sniper rifles (yes, they DO that) to clear the path for his trafficking cohorts. Maybe then we'll have the decent people of this country "notice" what an enemy we have for POTUS. (Admittedly, I have a tough time calling him that since he can't even PRETEND to be protective of the citizens of this country.)
Congratulations, Obama democrats! You managed to prove to everyone that a democrat cannot be entrusted with this powerful position when we're in serious danger. He's tied the hands of our troops in Afghanistan, and he isn't "qualified" to deal with the dangers from Iran's nuclear program. In fact, his solution is to weaken the abilities of the NEXT President to deal with Iran.
We now find ourselves being invaded by hostile forces, some of our prisoners from Mexico are now bearing tattoos from terrorist organizations from the middle east. We're going to look like Israel in a couple of years...(cont.)

For 5 damn years I have been coming to the AZ border from NY, spending my own time and money to apprehend illegals and drug smugglers. Tracked a drug load for 2 miles my last trip out and we made a huge pot bust. Guess what? LET US CITIZENS DO IT IF THE MILITARY IS NOT ALLOWED. I come down 6 or 7 times a year a week at a time and love it. I have personally apprehended about 300 people in that time. Because of my actions as a private citizen, other private citizens in this country are not victims of murder, rape, theft, drunk driving and grand larceny because of my actions.

Everything the administration does regarding border security issues, makes it crystal clear they don't want any.(border security) I'm hearing this more frequently all the time from friends, strangers, and just plain barroom type talk, THERE IS NO WAR ON TERROR AND WE THE PUBLIC ARE BEING LIED TO ON A DAILY BASIS.

A great portion of the US population (liberals,democrats,open borders nuts, pro-illegal alien apologists) will never "get it" until many of them are being targeted by the very persons they protect. But I believe that many of them will not even understand it then. They will blame it on racism (whites), intolerance(of illegal lawbreakers)and lord knows what else. Essentially, everything BUT the real problem.

If so, you need to go back to High School civics class.
The reason Obama is not allowing the troops to do their job is because that would help solve the problem. If he acted to solve the problem that would be admitting that there WAS a problem; meaning that he was willfully neglecting his duties in a manner that resulted in the death and injury of a number of American citizens -- grounds for impeachment.
Second; if he allowed them to do their job then he would no longer be able to hold the states hostage to his ridiculous amnesty agenda. IOW, he won't do his job unles we agree to make doing his job unnecessary. (This is the pretzel logic practiced regularly by the Left. That explains why the nation is wrecked).

If the National Guard are not allowed to engage armed men coming across the border with drugs and not allowed to stop illegal immigration, then they have no real mission. The drug cartels and illegal aliens must be laughing their butts off at American policies. Its no wonder, we as a nation, will become a third world country. When is President Obama going to stop catering to the government of Mexico on this issue?

However, Americans have been potty trained well. They were once the bravest people on earth. Now we are a weak and cowardly people, unwilling to save ourselves or our kid's future.
Once we enforced immigration laws. Eisenhower rounded up and deported 2 million of them. Now, the nation that saved the free world and put a man on the moon can't even enforce it's own laws. Political correctness is the death nell of the nation. We deserve to die off.
This makes perfect sense, spend billions per year in training to basically run away. This policy is like a Monty Python sketch. I've got a better idea on stopping illegals, forget punishing them because you can't punish a career criminal without jailing them. My suggestion would be to force those who hire illegals into doing the job of the illegals, and when the day is over, force those employers to live in the shacks that the illegals live in. Without work the illegals will stop flowing across the border.
