On Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained 25 illegal aliens who attempted to enter Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC. All of the were carrying fake identification and worked for a contractor doing work on the base.
According to ICE, two of the illegal aliens were being held in the Charleston County Jail, as they were wanted on other charges. The other 23 were released pending deportation hearings.
The foreign nationals were working for Palacio Drywall of Cornelius. The company is being used as a subcontractor for Caddel Construction Co. of Montgomery, Alabama.

I hope you get more details. Contractors doing business with the Federal Government are now required to use E-Verify. Was this contractor required to comply? If not, why not? If so, does this represent a serious flaw in the E-Verify system?

Cheree, "Palace" drywall is a sub-contractor under the general contractor, this way the general contractor is not (legally) responsible for an E-Verify check on those workers. But should be held accountable.

Americans do construction work, landscaping, work in restaurants - all phases of the economy. Do they think all Americans are CEOs or perhaps run the country? No, we leave the running of the country to the idiots! That's how we got into this mess. Isn't it great to know that our once-proud country has been overun by a third world nation who used stealth, occupation and colonization.

I am really sick of hearing about how "Americans won't do those jobs." What does a normal capitalistic system do in a situation where potential employees find a job distasteful or undesirable? Thats right... they raise wages! I guarantee if people were getting paid $50 an hour to dig ditches or mow you'd see every nationality out there. Conservatives praise capitalism while at the same time they bypass some of its needed tenets. They covertly and blatantly cut the legs from under the unions over the last 40-50 years. And $4500 per day is just base salary for some of these. Bonus is from 2 to 10 times their base pay, which put some to 10 mil. Then there's Perks and other compensation added to that!. No wonder our pension funds are underfunded! Shareholders think it's OK though. Some of these companies don't even pay a dividend to the shareholders. What is wrong with this Picture? And then they almost distroy the financial system with their BS derivatives!

The priority isn't who will do the jobs. It's who has, can, and will breach security. To defend against attack you have to be right every single time. Bad guys only have to be right once. It is all basic economics; It is all about the bottom line. Illegals get exploited by all who choose to hire them, including Mexican-Americans or other Latinos who use their services. I've heard some of these illegals pay a quota out of their wages to the person, usually a Latino, who helps them get the jobs. So, everyone makes a pretty penny on the backs of these illegals. How to stop illegal immigration? Make it a serious crime to hire illegals, and punish accordingly!

For those of You that dont know... Prevailing Wages are paid on all Goverment work sites. that means they have to pay the highest wage normal to that area. More than likely that would be the wages paid to UNION drywallers in that area.
As a union member that makes my Blood Boil. Chances are that a RAT Company Underbid the job, and did not pay the Prevailing Wage.
In My opion that company should be held accountable. And be the ones who pay for their return BACK TO their Homeland, and ALL cost in dealing with them.
