Population groups call for a moratorium on US immigration

Television ad calls for a halt to US immigration

Citing recent statistics showing fifteen million Americans are out of work, two major non-partisan “think tanks” are calling for a moratorium on US immigration.

Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) and NumbersUSA.org are both appealing to Washington to halt all immigration, while we have so many Americans unemployed. They say the government still intends to import 1.5 million foreign workers into the United States this year while Americans are losing their homes and livelihoods.

While the country's economic vital signs are improving, rates of American joblessness are as high as they ever were and economists say more Americans are going to lose jobs over the next twelve months in what they're terming a "jobless recovery."

Diana Hull, President of CAPS said “It is time to start opening up jobs for the American worker.”

Roy Beck, Founder and CEO of NumbersUSA.org echoes her sentiments. “Not one Member of Congress has proposed suspending this insane federal attack on the working families of this country,” he said.

Beck, a long time supporter of sensible immigration practices, is calling for a suspension of most types of immigration. On his blog he cautions supporters:

“The immigrants and temporary foreign workers are not the culprits. They are simply taking advantage of a system that is rigged against the American worker. The culprits are your Senators and Representatives,” he said. “Even the best of them are not making jobless Americans a priority by fighting for an Immigration Suspension,” Beck added.

He made a name for himself and his organization with his video “Immigration Gumballs” that to date has had millions of views on the web.

Both groups are working with the Coalition for the Future American Worker (CFAW), which is running a thirty-second television ad on major national media once again to bring attention to the issue.

    OPINION-
It is a true shame that politicians cannot understand that Illegal Immigration does actually take jobs away from American citizens.
If these politicians don't understand then maybe it is time they get a job change and the American public votes them out of office and show support for those who actually think that Americans need jobs over any person Illegally here in the United States.

Julia, sounds to me like you have your own "crumbling foundations of identity" to deal with. Lets blame it all on capitalism. Yeah thats it. And the bourgeois mentality of the traitor islanders that let the American scum bring all of their business to the island. Its been a territory for 111 years. Get over it.
