Border Fence/Vehicle Barrier along the Mexican Border
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed in it’s Annual Performance Report for fiscal years 2008-2010 that it does not plan on securing even a single additional mile of border in 2010. Additionally, it is planning on moving several hundred agents away from the Mexican border and redeploying them on the Canadian line.
In the report, the Agency charged with securing the homeland, plans to have 815 miles of the US Border “under effective control” in 2009 and 815 miles again in 2010 (page 24). In other words, the government does not plan on adding any fence or human and technology assets in 2010 whatsoever after having made significant progress in fiscal years 2005-2008.
"Border miles under control as defined in the National Strategic Plan is when the appropriate mix of personnel, equipment, technology and tactical infrastructure has been deployed to reasonably ensure that when an attempted illegal entry is detected, the Border Patrol has the ability to identify, classify and respond to bring the attempted illegal entry to a satisfactory law enforcement resolution."
Funding is listed as the primary cause as well as delays in launching SBInet, the highly touted “virtual fence”. In a footnote to the report the agency says:
"The program plans to move several hundred Agents from the Southwest Border to the Northern Border to meet the FY 2010 staffing requirements, with only a small increase in new agents for the Southwest Border in the same year, in addition, limited funding is being dedicated toward purchasing legacy technologies on the Southwest Border until the upgraded technology associated with SBInet is fully deployed. Given these factors, the program expects the miles of effective control to remain constant in FY 2010."
Despite all the rhetoric from the Obama Administration, as predicted, the border will remain largely open and bureaucratic devices will be used to limit its effectiveness. With almost 6,000 miles of “Lower 48” border and 2,000 of that on the violent Mexican frontier, our government has only managed too secure, by its own definition, 13.5% of our international borders since September 11th 2001.

It's about time, those pesky illegal alien Canadians are going to be the ruination of these United States.Thank goodness our government is looking out for our best interests!
All we can do is get these dirtbags Napolitano,Obama,Harry Reid ,Nancy Pelosi and the rest out of political office for good, then we can get some good folks in there to protect our wonderful country.
Wonder why native Americans didn't build a wall around their country to protect them from occupiers ..
It's no surprise . Left wing open borders socialists
are in control of the White House.
Like Inglorious Bastards lets get more scalps like
Van Jones in 2010 !!
The border wall is the most utterly useless waste of taxpayer money imaginable. The Border Patrol says it only slows a crosser down by 5 MINUTES. Walls are averaging $7 million a mile now. Maybe if we just dig a big trench along the border, fill it will dollar bills and light them on fire the smoke in immigrant's eyes will slow them down more.
Crazy horse--Yeah the BP made that number up just to make illegals look bad. Moron! Look at the video. If I were a liberal I'd be looking at you and saying: GET OFF OF MY SIDE!
Change that we need in order to save this great country will only come about when ALL Americans stand together and clean house in DC. Seems to me more and more Americans are standing by the day, now we need to get our brooms.
The wall on the southern border is VERY important and we need to complete it. But I must admit; we need to add two things. (1)Signs which say cross at your own risk (in English only). (2) lay some of very best land mines the entire length of the wall and about 20 yards wide. I suspect this might be a good start.
If this doesn't work; we will send the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to walk the wall so she can do what she does best. Talk crap and just maybe the illgeal aliens will go home and talk about the crazy b... they met at the border.
Yeah that Joe wilson. real bag of garbage for daring to breach decorum and call the pres a liar. (which he is) Oh wait a minute. State of the Union address. 2006. George Bush is President and the entire Democratic side openly booed him. Oh yeah. Thats class. You guys have the market on civility cornered.
Big Dog
I've been seaching for the "booing" and everything I've looked at doesn't show it. Do you have anything showing it? I need to show my democrat friend (well, actually put it in his face).
Thanks.
Ex-democrat
Joe Wilson-- isn't he a Neo-confederate racist?
Mr. Obama says, "If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."
This is one issue where Democrats and I part. If we know these people are here illegally then by law we must send them back home at the very least.
To assume that we can pick a day out of the blue and declare all illegal aliens American citizens is ludicrous. The very next day, thousands more will cross our borders wanting the same privileges, whether or not we make that declaration that day.
What did the declaration do for America? Absolutely nothing; Just as former president Ronald Reagan's amnesty bill did for us. Accept to give us even more people that we are legally required to care for. People for the most part that didn't start paying into our systems like Social Security, workmen's compensation or Medicare till later in their lives if at all.
The money we have in Social Security, Medicare, Public Aid and Medicaid was paid for by legal citizens. If you use that money to give health care or food stamps to illegal aliens, you are stealing money from legal American citizens.
If you want to increase the amount of immigrants we allow in -- then do so. If you want put these people on a 'special' listing giving them first choice access to citizenship once they go back where they came from, let's talk about it; but don't expect me to want to give them something for nothing, especially since they broke our laws to begin by waltzing right into our country without permission. That's no different than giving somebody that broke into my house free room and board.
Instead of giving Mexico money we should be asking for money in return for supporting their citizens in our hospitals and public aid systems.
