For some unexplained reason, the Supreme Court has asked the Obama administration its views in Chamber of Commerce v. Candelaria--a challenge to an Arizona law that punishes companies for hiring illegal immigrants. Arizona allows private complaints to be filed against employers. Those found to have "knowingly or intentionally” hired illegal immigrants could have their Arizona state business licenses suspended or revoked.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the law.
More than 1,000 immigration-related bills and resolutions were introduced, in state legislatures this year and at least 150 of these bills related specifically to employment, according to attorney Carter Phillips wrote in a legal brief. Phillips represents the chamber.
Last week, the Supremes secretly agreed to ask Obama’s solicitor general, Elena Kagan, to submit a brief outlining the administration’s views. The justices will review this brief before they decide whether to take up the case.
Then Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D) signed the state law. She now serves in the Obama administration as the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Candidate Barack Obama declared that the increase of state immigration laws “underscores the need for comprehensive immigration reform so local communities do not continue to take matters into their own hands.” However, President Obama has put immigration reform on the back burner.
Congress first imposed penalties for hiring illegal immigrants under the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act, according to McClatchy Newspapers The federal law explicitly pre-empts state action, save for regulations that cover business “licensing.”
In other news, the National Council of la Raza broke its silence on the terrorism directed at Lou Dobbs and his wife. The Race denounced violence or the threat of violence as a means to an end and repeated its call for toning down the rhetoric surrounding the immigration debate.
“Our thoughts are with Lou and his family,” said NCLR president and CEO Janet Murguía. “Our community knows all too well the impact that extreme rhetoric and a hostile climate can have on an issue like this.”

You forget, a lot of those "youths" are actually the children of illegal aliens. After all, Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic group not only because of illegal immigration but because of births. Lots of overweight Hispanics out there along with non Hispanics. Drop out rate among Hispanic youth is higher than for other groups.

If we applied the same standards to illegal aliens who wanted to join our military, about 99.99% of the illegal aliens wouldn't qualify due to poor IQ and low education level.
Not real sure what the title or article really imply. As far as I know we still have a right to self-defense. Walk, run, hike, bike,etc; Get in shape. Lift weights, exercise, wrestle, box, whatever; Train for physical conflict and survival. Obtain legal firearms, or whatever your state allows such as pepper spray or mace. alsom work on local and state politics. Petition, recall, referendum, etc. Please talk to your friends family neighbors about this.

I am very glad that someone else also noticed this strange occurrence. I was very surprised when I read the article stating that SCOTUS would be asking the administrative office for their views on the issue because it is the responsibility of SCOTUS to define the US Constitution, and they are supposed to do so impartially. I cannot recall any other time that SCOTUS has asked for the views of the administration and they should not be asking for anyone's viewpoint on issues. Their job is to listen to floor arguments and determine if Constitional issues apply to a given case. Their job is strictly to interpret the US Constitution. Asking the administration for input shows that they are not performing within the scope of their authority.

You misunderstood my post. I know that illegal aliens don't qualify for enlistment in our country's armed forces. I was using the analogy that IF illegal aliens COULD legally enlist in our country's armed forces, a very large percentage of them wouldn't qualify for enlistment because of poor IQ and/or low education levels.

Some illegal aliens pay some taxes on money that they are illegally earning at jobs that they are illegally working at. Every illegal alien who is working in the U.S. has committed at least one crime including: ID theft, document fraud, Social Security fraud, employment "I-9 Form" fraud, income tax evasion, and conspiracy to violate immigration laws.
Many illegal aliens get all of their federal income taxes refunded by using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number that they can get from the IRS with no questions asked. Illegal aliens can get even more money back in a refund than they paid in federal income taxes by claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit.

What do you know of the thoughts of doctors, techs, lawyers, nurses, etc.?
