Border Patrol Agents of the Metaline Falls Station in Northeastern Washington rescue one and find second deceased in a remote area in Northern Pend Oreille County.
On Thursday, January 19th, while performing snow mobile training in a remote area of Northeastern Washington, Border Patrol Agents of the Spokane Sector assigned to the Metaline Falls Station discovered the body of one individual and a surviving companion on a back road in a rugged area near the Canadian Border.
The body of a 61 year old Hispanic male from Los Angeles, California was discovered along with his surviving companion. Border Patrol Agents provided immediate assistance to the surviving individual. Border Patrol Agents were then able to assist Pend Oreille County Deputies to the scene.
The survivor is suspected of being an alien illegally within the United States. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Spokane took custody from the Border Patrol of the surviving individual.
The Pend Oreille Sheriff’s Office released a news bulletin on January 23rd stating that the deceased individual had succumbed to hypothermia. The identity of the deceased subject is being withheld while next of kin are contacted.
