CBS MoneyWatch.com is calling the Hyundai Tucson one of the best SUVs with high MPG. As Jerry Edgerton reports, “Car buyers’ shift away from sport utilities, prompted by high gas prices, may be over. (One reason: Some SUVS now have pretty decent gas mileage.)”
Well, that’s been pretty obvious in the 2010 model year and the Tucson is one of the prime examples. It gets 23-mpg city and 31-mpg highway. It’s a great looking SUV and fun to drive. It consistently ranks well in all reviews (speaking of which you can read my review of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson).
It’s ranked against the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, which gets better around-town mileage of 34-mpg but similar highway mileage, one of the glaring problems with hybrids. So,if you’re driving mostly highway miles – or even routinely above 40 mph - the better choice is going to be the Tucson.
