Boston Herald: Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Azera are two of the best pre-owned cars

The Boston Herald’s Jerry Kronenberg (a distant competitor to the Boston Globe’s Cliff Atiyeh) has come out with his list of the “10 Great Pre-Owned Cars for 2010.”  The Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Azera are two of the best pre-owned cars.

Kronenberg based his choices on 10 of Edmunds.com top 2010 used-car picks and conversations with its editor-in-chief Karl Brauer.

In the small sedan category, the 2003-2008 Hyundai Elantra came out on top. Here’s what Bauer had to say:

Used Elantras sell for low prices that don’t really reflect the car’s strength and durability over time. A used Honda or Toyota will be more expensive, but won’t have any functional advantage over an Elantra.

In the large sedan category, Edmunds.com went with the 2006=2008 Hyundai Azera. Bauer had this observation:

Like used Elantras, used Azeras carry relatively low prices, But because the Azera was Hyundai’s top-of-the-line sedan until 2009, used models come with tons of amenities. For the price you pay, you get a very-well-equipped car.

Read my Hyundai Azera review. In my eight years of reviewing cars, I have never reviewed the Elantra. I’ll have to see about changing that soon!
