Once again the Democrats who run California have shown their true colors:
After a lengthy debate which featured passionate opposition from Assembly Members Bill Berryhill and Jim Nielsen and quotes from the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance's opposition letter, AB 1810 passed off of the Assembly Floor this afternoon by a vote of 43-28. The measure now moves to the Senate.
Under the provisions of AB 1810 (Feuer), those who purchase or transfer a shotgun or rifle will be required to register that firearm by submitting their name, address, place of birth, phone number and occupation to the California Department of Justice.
The bill makes no provisions for the increased work load on local municipalities, Law enforcement, and the DOJ, no provisions for how this data is to be gathered nor stored. The bill increases the cost of purchasing a firearm.
When election time comes around, remember the names of those who wish to complicate our lives, increase the cost of ownership, and reduce our ability to hunt, not just the author of this bill but those of all other bills that are curtailing our hunts privileges.
Amendments have been made to AB2186: AB 2186 (De Leon) would have prohibited a person from owning, purchasing or possessing a firearm for 10 years for violating the state's "loaded firearms" provisions. Loaded firearm citations that would fall under the purview of this measure are some of the most common hunting-related violations. According to 2008 data from the Department of Fish and Game, there were 274 such violations statewide, representing the third most common type of hunting violation. Amendments taken avoid these overly harsh penalties from being imposed upon on hunters who may unwittingly violate loaded firearms laws, including accidentally leaving ammunition in a firearm after hunting or unknowingly entering public roads or other restricted public areas while hunting.
The amended version of AB 2186 has been narrowed to only relate to penalties for misdemeanor concealed carry violations. This bill is also currently in the Senate.

Comments
Anyone who has ever seen the movie "Red Dawn" knows why the registration of ALL guns is a bad idea. It makes the CONFISCATION of guns by rogue governments or invaders much easier. Only LAW ABIDING citizens would care about the law, leaving them defenseless against criminals, who could care less what the law says! WAKE UP! That is what is wrong with the current carry laws. A criminal, or a GANG member knows that the odds are that if he holds up a normal citizen, that citizen will not be able to defend himself, because he IS obeying the law, and depending on an in-adequate police department to protect him!
