Religion: Scientologists 'healing' Haiti quake victims with 'magic touch'. Volunteer ministers representing Scientology are on the ground in Haiti, spreading the gospel according to L. Ron Hubbard, and using their unique training to heal wounded Haitians through a curious Scientology massage called an "assist".
AFP reports on one such volunteer minister representing Scientology in Haiti:
"We're trained as volunteer ministers, we use a process called 'assist' to follow the nervous system to reconnect the main points, to bring back communication," said a Parisian volunteer who gave her name as Sylvie.
"When you get a sudden shock to a part of your body the energy gets stuck, so we re-establish communication within the body by touching people through their clothes, and asking people to feel the touch."
Next to her lay 22-year-old student Oscar Elweels, whose father rescued him from the basement of his school where he lay with a pillar on his leg for a day after the deadly January 12 quake.
His right leg was amputated below the knee and his left leg was severely bruised and swollen.
More than half of his fellow students died in the rubble of his school, although the rest of his family was unscathed, he said, thanking God.
"One hour ago he had no sensation in his left leg, so I explained the method to him, I touched him and after a while he said 'now I feel everything'," said Sylvie.
"Otherwise they might have had to amputate his other leg. Now his sister knows the method and she can do it."

Anywhere people are suffering, Scientology's yellow-shirted "volunteer ministers" can be found lurking near news cameras and claiming to help people with their ... technology. They performed "purification rundowns" on recovery workers sifting through the ruins of the World Trade Center after 9/11, administered "touch assists" to victims of the tsunami, distributed literature after the Virginia Tech shooting, and are on the ground in Haiti right now warning the starving, dehydrated populace about the dangers of psychiatry.
To be fair, along with their "volunteer ministers" Scientologists are also sending trained medics (presumably fellow Scientologists) and medicine. No doubt the Haitians can use the medics and medicine. But the phony healing is obnoxious, as is the proselytizing.

John Travolta will make an emergency trip to Haiti from Florida on his personal jet. Travolta, who flies a 707, will be carrying family, 24 doctors, and volunteer ministers to Haiti to help in the relief effort. The plane will carry medical supplies to aid Haitians injured and in need after a devastating earthquake.
In the 80's the Church of Scientology lost a 39 million dollar law suit in Portland, Oregon. The court found widespread fraud and abuse on the part of Hubbard and a select groups of aides who served him and Scientology

Scientology claims it is sending all this help to Haiti when thats not the case its just propaganda
most if not all of the supply's,medical personnel,jet fuel,logistics is ALL being arranged by the GWHRC out of the Haitian Embassy. Scientology has volunteers helping out inside the Embassy
but In SCIENTOLOGY'S PRESS RELEASES they claim that all the logistics,supply's medical personnel etc That THEY are providing is bogus exaggeration and a PR stunt to over inflate their role in Haiti and an attempt to grossly misinform the public.
Scientology is using this association to exploit for PR purposes
and they are NOT PROVIDING ANYTHING.

Scientology has an orphanage they have set up a web page and have 175 children in their care,according to their recent press releases and they are already offering sponsorship of the children
I am all for helping orphaned children...but Scientology just See's an opportunity to exploit and profiteer from the Tragic Disaster
A Mr Claude Reginald Jean a Haitian and a Scientoligist previously ran 2 orphanages in Haiti prior to the Earthquake
most of the children are from the 2 orphanages.
Mr Jean Ran the Haiti Dianetics center (AKA Global Pioneers)
Mr Claude Jean relocated his family and children to Florida on a return flight after the Earthquake and his children were given full scholarships to the Scientology run Clearwater Academy in Florida
several Scientology front groups are raising funds to support the orphanage which is now called Future Haiti
