In the name of religion people are going blind, trying to see the Virgin Mary. Catholic pilgrims are suffering eye damage after staring at the sun in the hope of witnessing an apparition of the Virgin Mary.
In Ireland, a self styled "spiritual healer", Joe Coleman, is promoting staring into the sun as a means to witness the miracle of the Virgin Mary.
At least five people who stared at the sun in the hope they might be witnessing religious apparitions are being treated for serious eye damage and possible permanent blindness. A top eye surgeon reports seeing an unprecedented rise in the number of cases of solar retinopathy, damage to the eye from staring at the Sun.
Last October over 10,000 people gathered at the Knock shrine in northwestern Ireland, staring at the sun, hoping to see the Virgin Mary.
The recent gatherings at Knock are promoted by Dublin con man Joe Coleman. Coleman preys on Catholics. The "spiritual healer" suggests that the Virgin Mary will appear if pilgrims stare into the sun. As one might expect, many people following the guidance of the "spiritual healer" began seeing the sun ‘dance’ in the sky, believing they were witness to a Virgin Mary inspired miracle.
Apparently Coleman, the "spiritual healer", neglects to tell his followers that seeing the sun dance in the sky is not a sign from the Virgin Mary, but the sun's rays burning into the central part of the eye's retina.
Coleman is a despicable con man. Yet his followers should know better. To participate in such an activity is nothing short of complete and utter folly. The degree of intellectual bankruptcy participation in such an activity requires is astonishing.
Another apparition of the Blessed Virgin in Knock has been predicted by Mr Coleman for this Saturday the 5th of December. Authorities are warning those planning to attend a similar gathering this Saturday that they risk damaging their eyes if they stare at the sun for any length of time.

You did'nt give a valid enough reason as to why Mr. Coleman is a dispicable con man. You mentioned, intellectual bankruptcy, so you meant that; he's a con man because he prey's on dummies?
Anybody who would do that is a moron, they get what they deserve.
