NC Baptist church plans Halloween book burning. A North Carolina Baptist church plans to go ahead with a Halloween celebration that will center around the burning of bibles and other books, even though the event will be illegal. The Amazing Grace Baptist Church will be subject to a $25,000 fine for violating open burning laws, yet Pastor Marc Grizzard says the event will go forward.
The church, located in Canton, N.C., is a small. fledgling operation, with only 14 members. No doubt the Halloween book burning is a publicity stunt; apparently Pastor Grizzard wants to build a church. According to the church web site the book burning promises to be a good time.
We will be serving Bar-b-Que Chicken, fried chicken, and all the sides.

Crazy. The donations are for burning! The whole thing is odd. Pastor Grizzard mainly wants to burn Bibles and religious commentary (although he seems willing to burn almost anything). Apparently any Bible that is not the King James version is unacceptable to Pastor Grizzard, as well as many mainstream Christian writers and commentators.
Come to our Halloween book burning. We are burning Satan's bibles like the NIV, RSV, NKJV, TLB, NASB, NEV, NRSV, ASV, NWT, Good News for Modern Man, The Evidence Bible, The Message Bible, The Green Bible, ect. These are perversions of God's Wordthe King James Bible.
We will also be burning Satan's music such as country , rap , rock , pop, heavy metal, western, soft and easy, southern gospel ,contemporary Christian , jazz, soul, oldies but goldies, etc.
We will also be burning Satan's popular books written by heretics like Westcott & Hort , Bruce Metzger, Billy Graham , Rick Warren , Bill Hybels , John McArthur, James Dobson, Charles Swindoll, John Piper, Chuck Colson, Tony Evans, Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swagart, Mark Driskol, Franklin Graham , Bill Bright, Tim Lahaye, Paula White, T.D. Jakes, Benny Hinn , Joyce Myers, Brian McLaren, Robert Schuller,Mother Teresa , The Pope , Rob Bell, Erwin McManus, Donald Miller, Shane Claiborne, Brennan Manning, William Young, etc.
Burning books is obnoxious, as are fundamentalist Christians. Pastor Grizzard and his flock are no exception. Yet the whole thing is at the same time funny. Barbecue at a book burning? Burning Billy Graham and Oral Roberts and Jimmy Swaggert? Burning Bibles?
Crazy, funny, sad.

It's people like these, and churches like these, that hurt Christianity. If they want to burn anything that isn't from God's original Word, then they need to burn everything not in Arabic or Hebrew. After all, those were the languages of the time.
Christian fundamentalists embrace ignorance. Even if they are not burning books they are denying scientific truth and trying to protect a world view that is false.
Tonight the heavens opened and rain fell. Book burning didn't take place. There were several news crews, reporters, Sheriff and protesters. If I had been the pastor I would have been embarrassed that more protesters came out than members. There may have been books destroyed but when the flock left the building it was the woman and children first, only five of them and then the pastor himself. As the woman and children left he turned out the porch light, as if trying to hide their identities and turned it on and then back off when he left.
During the service it was said the news crew and others were listening through the floor upstairs and could here yelling from the service. The only disappointing thing was that more locals didn't attend the event. One came as far as Chattanooga, Tn and others an hour or so away. Was a peaceful event and most that were there didn't agree with this radical man!
