Holidays without religion: Good without God. The American Humanist Association (AHA) is launching a national campaign this weekend. The campaign will feature ads proclaiming "No God? ...No problem!"

This weekend, 200 buses and 50 rail cars in the Washington DC area will begin featuring the ads.
The campaign will then target the transit systems of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The full text of the ad read: No God? ...No Problem! Be good for goodness' sake. Humanism is the idea that you can be good without a belief in God"

According to AHA, the holiday ad campaign is the first by a humanist group to go nationwide.
"We're hoping this campaign will build awareness about the humanist movement and our ethical life philosophy – particularly among the 'nones:' the rapidly growing percentage of people who claim no religion,” said Roy Speckhardt, executive director of AHA.

The ad campaign is a marvelous effort. Many theists need to let go of the false assumption that not believing in God indicates a lack of morality.

In addition, non-theists need to know there is a community of like-minded individuals out there they can connect with. Many feel uncomfortable talking openly about their personal beliefs because of prejudice against them. Many fear they'll be rejected by their family, their friends and their community. Some even fear retaliation for their beliefs.

This campaign is part of a larger movement, a movement of liberation, liberation from religious ignorance and superstition. Free thinkers and atheists, step out of the closet, and
rejoice.

The ads are mere propaganda that answers to an argument that no one has made. The claim is not that atheistic lack of morals but a lack of moral premise, lack of ethos.

Haha! That's pretty stupid! Anyone can have good morals whether they believe in God or not. But they can't take God out of our country by advertising it this way. God is with us!

God is a belief structure. For those that believe in God, whether others believe or not shouldn't matter to you. It's a choice that God allows people to make. Almost all the wars on the planet are fought by "BELIEVERS" of something. The most peaceful people on the planet I know are the people who believe that there is the possibility of anything. They don't pretend to KNOW because of a feeling they experience or a hope they have. The most evolved individual human spirits I've encountered are the ones that believe all things are possible. The most whacked out, crazed, hate-filled people I've ever met are the ones who think they've got it right. They would say "We know we have it right." I use to be one of them. I realized it was my immaturity attempting to find a way. I now forgive myself for misleading the weak-minded into believing what I believed. The one TRUE WAY into the Kingdom is to realize the ONE true way is love. LOVE OF HUMANITY and ALL its diversity.

Whoo! I sure am glad someone is spending a lot of money to tell people what they already are aware of.

The conclusion may be true, but it might be false for anything any humanist, atheist, gnostic or whatever, knows: they have never thrown themselves into the mental position of those who think differently from them, and considered what such persons may have to say; and consequently they do not, in any proper sense of the word, know the doctrine which they themselves profess. If they did, they would not need billboard campaigns to try and convince people it is possible to be a good person without God.
I really should not say any more. That logic is just that unbeleivable to me.

Sure one can be good without God; the same way one can turn on the lights without understanding electricity. But that doesn't prove the source is non-existent

I get so tired of the bullying propaganda about religion every winter. It is refreshing to see a group display a little humor about their beliefs.
