Bybee should be in jail, not sitting on the bench. - Sharon Tipton
Torture "in some situations" has become acceptable for many Americans because of people like Judge Jay Bybee who gave it a judicial green light.
"For those of us who still have a conscience, a memory, and a sense of history, we know that the line Jay Bybee crossed can't go unopposed," stated Sharon Tipton, dedicated human rights defender working to remove the "Torture Judge" Bybee from his position.
The Jay Bybee torture judge protest is scheduled at the 9th Circuit Court at 125 S. Grand Ave., Pasadena, tomorrow, Thursday December 10 at 9 a.m.
"The three sessions start at 9:00 and 9:30 and while Bybee won't see us there, this time, we have an opportunity to ask his peer to demand Bybee's resignation," stated Tipton explaining the plan:
Protest outside the court with our signs or make your own,
bring your orange jumpsuits, and for those who want to address the
judges direct, sit in courtrooms 1, 2 or 3 before the sessions end
(sometimes early, sometimes as late as 12 noon, WAIT FOR THE GAVEL TO
DROP (otherwise you are in violation of law) then speak your mind.
When Bybee was here last month, I quoted US Cod Title 18, on the crime
and punishment of torture!
"Bybee should be in jail, not sitting on a bench! The court guards were kind enough to escort us out without any problems," said Tipton, referring to one of her previous "Bye-bye Bybee" protests at court. (See: http://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/
"I hope readers will join us in this struggle for justice and accountability, " stated Tipton, adding, We will not be silent."
