South Carolina: A bondsman was charged with human trafficking after asking a woman to do him a sexual favor and work for him in exchange of bail. He posted a bail of a 39 year old woman on the condition that she would cook, clean, and do sexual favor for him. The woman was able to get away from the bondsman and call the police when visiting her children at their father's home. The bondsman was waiting for her outside in his vehicle.
Iowa: Iowa's attorney general with other 16 states, wants Craigslist to shut down its adult service. She called advertisement on craigslist "very clear and very blatant."
Maryland: Police and prosecutors said that a woman who was unpaid and unfairly treated by a family as a domestic helper has no human trafficking case against the family. According to the police, because she was neither locked up nor had complete prevention to use computer and cell phone, her does not meet federal human trafficking case standard. But, the police recommended that she files a civil suit against the family and advised her on how to file a criminal charge for the theft of services against them.
Virginia: A Washington attorney was arrested for child prostitution and pornography charges. He was arrested for paying a 15 year old runaway for sex while he pictured encounter. According to the report, he was charged with one count of producing child pornography and five counts of possessing pornography.
EUROPE
Greece: Police arrested two Bulgarians on human trafficking charges. According to the report, the arrest was made while the two Bulgarians were attempting to transfer illegal immigrants to Italy.
ASIA
Cambodia: A nonprofit group is attempting to expedite the return of sex Cambodian women. These women were trafficked to Thailand. The women were rescued from a karaoke, where they were forced into prostitution.
India: A Bangladeshi man was arrested on the charge of human trafficking Delhi. He allegedly was involved in trafficking Bangladeshi nationals to different countries by using forged Nepalese passports. Police also discovered forged Nepalese passports, Canadian immigration stamps, Indian passports, etc.
China: Chinese government is stepping up to fight against human trafficking. Still, there are many obstacles to overcome to countermeasure human trafficking. For instance, the legal definition of human trafficking in China is narrower than the UN TIP protocol. Therefore, the law does not protect forced labor and male victims of human trafficking.
Iraq: More than 50,000 Iraqi women are in sexual slavery in Syria and Jordan, according to the report. Because of the instability created by the Iraq war, the sex industry enslaving many Iraqi women and children are thriving in Syria and Jordan. As many women and children lost their husbands and parents, they are fleeing to the neighboring countries, and many of them fall into the hands of human traffickers.
AFRICA
Swaziland: Trafficking in people with Albinism is spreading through the south, according to the report. Just last week alone, two children with albinism were found dead and mutilated. While ritual killing of Albinos has been a long history in a country like Tanzania, it is a recent trend prevailing through southern region of Swaziland.
