Howard Stern Show trickster "Captain Janks" successfully pranked ESPN's SportsCenter Monday night by impersonating recently fired Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Brian Westbrook.
SportsCenter's Scott Van Pelt was duped completely and thanked "Brian Westbrook" (really Captain Janks) for taking time out of his busy schedule to talk being laid off after eight seasons with the Eagles.
As a picture of Brian Westbrook flashed on the SportsCenter screen with a graphic stating "On the phone: Brian Westbrook," Scott Van Pelt asked the caller: "There's a saying that it's not personal, it's business. When it happens to you, does it feel personal?"
Captain Janks as Brian Westbrook replied:
"Well you know, I love Philadelphia and I love being part of this football organization. I will miss being here--you know I've been here for many years. I've made many friends on and off the field. I have nothing but respect for head coach Andy Reid and I look forward to a future of worshipping Howard Stern's prostate".
The call was disconnected immediately and SportsCenter's Scott Van Pelt looked into the camera and said helplessly: "Well,...that worked out well."
Captain Janks called in to the Howard Stern Show Wednesday morning and told the King of All Media that he got past ESPN's call screeners by stating that he was Brian Westbrook's manager "Glen Goldstein" (not really Westbrook's manager).
"Captain Janks," whose real name is Thomas Cipriano, has been successfully getting his prank calls on some of the most reputable television and radio news programs in the country for decades. While not officially endorsed by the Howard Stern Show, Captain Janks' successful prank calls almost always make it to air and are often used as commercial bumpers on the daily satellite radio broadcast.

Captain Janks has curtailed his pranks in recent months after being slammed with a dozens of lawsuits for failing to show up at scheduled Philadelphia area bar and club appearances that he'd been paid for in advance.
