Ted Kennedy falls victim to The Howard Stern Show vacation curse

It’s happening again.  Important people are dropping dead while The Howard Stern Show is on vacation.

ABC News has reported that Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts died late Tuesday night at his home in Massachusetts.  Senator Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer last year and underwent surgery on the tumor earlier this summer.

So,…it’s not that it’s a shock that Teddy finally kicked the bucket.

But for Howard Stern Show fans, it’s absolutely outrageous that the death of such a prominent subject of ridicule on the show has happened, once again while Stern is on vacation.  Earlier in the summer, The Howard Stern Show cast took major flak from its listeners when Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dropped dead within  hours of the King of All Media going on two week hiatus.  This time, the Howard Stern Show vacation celebrity death curse is even more significant since Howard Stern does impressions of Senator Ted Kennedy often, usually referencing his heavy drinking, womanizing and involvement in the drunk driving death of Mary Jo Kopechne.

Now, fans of the show that has been roasting Senator Ted Kennedy for decades are being forced to make their own jokes about how the senator won’t need to be embalmed since he’s already pickled in enough whiskey to keep him fresh for all eternity.

It’s a disturbing trend—not just that people that The Howard Stern Show loves to ridicule seem to keep dying while the show’s on vacation, but also that Howard Stern Show fans are deprived of the immediate reactionary commentary that the King of All Media is famous for.  For fifteen bucks a month, Sirius subscribers think they deserve nothing less.

Let’s all just hope and pray that Don Imus and Jay Leno stay nice and healthy until The Howard Stern Show is back from vacation.

It would be in poor taste to make fun of the dead anyway..Howard would never do that of course;-)

With all the Fridays off and the endless vacations they'll be a lot of people dead before Stern bolts for good from Sirius to the Hamptons!

If Howard wasn't away 75% of the year maybe you could hear a fresh, funny joke about ol' jello brain. Screw Howard, he's become a hack of himself. Switch to O&A people, at least they are fresh and don't take near as much vacation.

I agree with the article. I am a die hard fan of Stern and feel cheated paying for something I am not getting value from. Stern has officially jumped the shark.

Think about it. They work 4 days a week 42 weeks a year. 42 x 4 = 168 days out of 365, and they are off 197 days a year. They are off more than half of the year, so statistically, more than half of the celebrities are bound to bid their final farewells when the show is on hiatus.
