Howard Stern defended his credentials for taking over Simon Cowell's position on American Idol during his Monday morning Howard Stern Show satellite radio broadcast, and claimed that he created the popular talent competition during a radio segment thirty years ago.
Howard Stern launched the statment in response to an onslaught of reports and opinion pieces that tore apart his potential for taking over Cowell's seat. Simon Cowell himself told reporters in a press conference Friday that Howard Stern wouldn't be a good fit for American Idol because he lacked music industry experience and wasn't "good looking" enough. Cowell then went on to insult Stern further by saying that porky, faux-hawked blogger Perez Hilton would be a better fit.
Simon Cowell says Howard Stern couldn't replace him on 'Idol', Perez Hilton a maybe
Howard Stern responded to Cowell's insults by reciting the resume that made him the self proclaimed King of All Media:
"I'm an American icon, if you will. I changed radio. In addition to that, I've had a film, book,....films, books, live pay-per-view specials. In addition, I've had a television career--all in American media and, not only that, thoughtout my career I've been responsible for generating interest and branding a bunch of very long standing musical artists, musicians and entertainers in this business, and backing them and nurturing them and making sure they had a shot."
Then Howard Stern went on to say that he'd been judging American Idol-like contests before most of the show's contestants were a glimmer in their parents' eye:
"I'm the creator of American Idol. I told you in 1980 I won a very prestigious radio award called the Drake Chenalt award where they put out...a record album of a bit that I did where I would invite three record company executives in to choose people from my audience who would be worthy of a recording contract and they would audition for them and then these guys would be brutally honest. Now, if I'm not uniquely qualified to be the judge of American Idol, I suggest to you that Simon Cowell is very afraid of me taking over that franchise, because I'm going to tell you something right now....In fact the show is doomed with him leaving. Doomed."
Despite Howard Stern's compulsion to prove he's got the chops for the American Idol position, he says he's not lobbying for the job. Stern referenced a slew of reports released during his vacation week that claimed that he was campaigning hard to take over Simon's seat.
"I don't care if I'm the judge on American Idol," said Stern. "That's why I'm willing to get on here and say it's a s---ty karaoke contest that I watch every week,...and that Ellen's a c---."

What a jackaXX Howard is. He has NEVER had a musical idea in his life. This is just sour grapes since Simon said Howard should NOT do IDOL.
Booo, Howard Boo.

It's obvious none of you are true Americans that know your media history. Open a book, maybe even Wikipedia Howard Stern. Ever heard of a group called Bon Jovi? They were no one until Stern took a chance and put them on when he was syndicated in New Jersey. Ever heard of Sugar Ray? They were nobodies until Stern put them on. Ever heard of Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader? Stern put that on BACK IN THE 80's and IT IS DOCUMENTED. So, before you begin to type a bunch of ignorance on your computer, get to know what an TRUE AMERICAN IDOL IS. His RESUME SPEAKS FOR IT SELF! #1 of everything he's every done. Just calling it how it is people. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

I supposed his stoned fans would believe him, but is he huffing glue out of a bag or what? Since he created the famed idol competition so long ago, why didn't it work out for him? Funny how he spent all of his energy in the last 30 years doing a radio show instead of working to create a real show. Oh wait. Let me guess. The people we see are all puppets, and it's really Stern that is controlling all of them through underground commands he sends. LOL. Yep, his idea all right. WAit! I used to pretend I was a DJ when I was a kid. Maybe I had the idea for the Stern show! Yeah, that's it!
Oh wait. The absurdity of his suggestion made me momentairly forget Stern is being a troll as usual. For those who doubt, think back to last year. I can't remember what it was Stern said exactly, but it was also some crazy comment about American Idol. That got him a LOT of attention. He is a troll, and a rich one. IT's the $$$.
"I would invite three record company executives in to choose people from my audience who would be worthy of a recording contract"
That right there is NOT how American Idol works anyway. It's similar, but a different formula. There is no structure to go through 100,000 people and narrow them out in the idea. There is nothing in it about having show after show with eliminations. . It's not really the same idea. But it's funny I even tried to compare it. lol
Idol powers-that-be must choose wisely, for the future of the show will likely hinge on their decision. Simon's departure from Idol will create a HUGE void... one that Howard would be more than capable of filling.
And to those who either claim to not know Howard or express hatred for him, bababooey to you.
