Former Howard Stern production assistant to star in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (video)

 

Everybody has to start somewhere.  Nobody knows that better than the wildly successful film director and now star of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, Eli Roth.  Eli Roth scored one of his first gig’s in the film industry as a production assistant on Howard Stern’s 1997 biopic Private Parts.  Eli Roth’s assignment on the Private Parts set was to make sure that there was no noise outside of Howard Stern’s trailer while the King of All Media took his royal rests.

Eli Roth put his time as Howard Stern’s on-set nanny to good use.  When Eli Roth visited The Howard Stern Show studios, the cast remembered him furiously writing his own scripts for hour after hour while hanging out outside of Howard Stern’s door shushing passersby.  Eight years later Eli Roth released the 2006 gore-tastic horror flick Hostel which grossed more than $80 million worldwide.

Eli Roth’s pulp sensibilities caught the eye of iconic filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and landed him an on-screen role in Tarantino’s half of the Grindhouse collaboration, Deathproof.  Eli Roth also directed one of the fake trailers slipped in between Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Quentin Tarantino’s Deathproof.  Now, the former Howard Stern production assistant is set to star as one of the “Basterds” in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds long-anticipated tale of Jewish-American soldiers who “went medieval” on every Nazi they could get their hands on during World War II.

Inglourious Basterds opens Friday, August 21st and also stars Brad Pitt, Cristoph Waltz and Diane Kruger.
