Artie Lange scores eight votes total in Hoboken mayoral race
"Even before the process of counting votes is complete, it is obvious that Hoboken has made its choice for Mayor. We therefore concede our loss to Dawn Zimmer. We thank her for running a clean, issue-oriented campaign against Artie Lange. Finally, we want to thank Artie for continuing to put Hoboken first, even in light of this tragic loss. We look forward to the next Artie Lange campaign."
Abouey launched the grass roots campaign to elect the intermittently sober Lange to Hoboken's highest office shortly after Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano was arrested for his involvement in an international money laundering scheme in July.
About 12,000 voters cast their ballots in Tuesday's Hoboken mayoral election. Early reports indicated that Artie Lange may have received as few as one vote. Provisional ballots have yet to be counted, so Artie Lange's vote total could rise into the double digits as ballots are verified in the coming weeks.
