Is Artie Lange's job Jim Breuer's new 'secret project'?
Artie Lange rumors are running wild this New Year's Eve, the most prominent one being that comedian Jim Breuer let it slip that Artie Lange quit the Howard Stern Show during a Cleveland area radio interview on Thursday morning.
The report immediately prompted speculation that Jim Breuer will step in as Artie Lange's replacement. Jim Breuer's most recent Twitter and Facebook updates from Wednesday state:
"Have a safe new year everyone. I'm working on a secret project soon to hopefully be announced!"
How soon Jim? Like,...Monday,...January 4th, 2010, 6AM Eastern soon?
Jim Breuer has become a regular guest and friend of the Howard Stern Show, appearing on the morning satellite radio broadcast at least four times in 2009. Howard Stern Show fans have been speculating for months that the string of appearances by comedians like Breuer, Craig Gass, Greg Giraldo and others have really been unofficial auditions for Artie Lange's job.
Artie Lange was last heard on the Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, December 9.

I love Artie - I hope he's getting help this time and they keep his seat open when he's gone. If he's not getting clean, I don't think they can take him back again.
I LOVE Norm MacDonald, but I don't see him as a good fit with the show. He should have his own.
If Artie leaving the show rumors are "running wild" why are you basically the only one reporting them? And if the comment from Chris above is correct (makes sense during the holidays), then I think it might be time for you to do your research.

I like Artie but it is way overdue for the show to stop being a enabler and let him hit rock bottom and maybe, just maybe he can get through this (if not already p). We all know that like Jackie, he will be back doing hack clubs within 2 years if he was forced to leave the show. Yes, he will have a more successfully dive then Jackie (if he lives) but without the show he is a decent average journeyman comic with B movie credits. I would love Breuer to take over. Oddly enough, Artie and Jim seem to click well on the air which we all know is rare since Artie normally shuts down and feels inferior to any of his peers who are funnier than him. Quit or get fired and get help. Hopefully he will get through this 500th chapter in your addiction life but for the rest of us, please give your tired excuse drug addiction life a rest. Hearing you weekly moan about how horrible your life is when you have to go do a gig for $200k on a Sat. then have to work 4 days for awesome coin. Waah.
If Jim Breuer joins the show I'm canceling my subscription. I could not stand to hear him tell the same old jokes everyday. He simply tries to hard to be the center of attention. The show would be unlistenable, and I have been a daily Howard stern listener since 1990! Please Howard No Jim!
